Description
French Mediterranean Villa with gorgeous lake and sea views from the property. 3 bedrooms (1 double bed, 2 single beds, 2 bunk beds, 2 cots).
Please note: The price shown includes fees and taxes, except tourist tax, which is based on but not a fixed percentage of the total rental price; and depends on the composition of your party. The relatively small tourist tax will be advised on enquiry. Please provide the number of adults (18+) and children who will be staying, and the dates you are inerested in.
The villa has 2 bathrooms:
Bathroom 1: Bath with shower fitting, toilet, wash-hand basin and towel dryer.
Bathroom 2: Shower, toliet and wash-hand basin.
Fully integrated and silent air-conditioning throughout.
Located in the Corbière foothills of the Pyrénées on an elevated residential/holiday site in the AOC wine village of Fitou, approximately mid-way along the coast between Narbonne and Perpignan.
2 shared swimming pools on site (one heated April, May, June, September and October) and a toddlers' paddling pool are located on site for the exclusive use of residents.
The villa has Wi-Fi, satellite and internet TV ( French, German and other European channels), DVD/CD with iPhone connections, an integral garage, additional parking and enclosed rear garden.
There are 2 raised terraces with lighting (one covered), enjoying gorgeous lake and sea views, gas BBQ, 2 bistro sets and sunbeds.
The large open-plan living / dining room with TV and music system, leads into a modern well-equipped kitchen including washing machine, dishwasher, oven with ceramic hob, and a microwave.
2 cots and a high chair are provided. We ask you to take your own bedding for the cots.
Beautiful sandy beaches on the Mediterranean are within 10-15 mins drive on local roads.
A 10-15 minute walk (perhaps a little longer uphill on the way back!) will take you into the village centre where you will find some excellent restaurants, numerous wine 'caves', with opportunities to meet the wine growers and sample before you buy. There is also a tabac/bar, boulangerie, PO and pizzeria. Nearby, on the outskirts of the village there is a Spar shop, laundrette, doctors' surgery and routiere-style restaurants/snack bars.
Fitou's Xth century chateau, with bar, provides panoramic views of the Corbières, the wild 'garigue' environment, the lake and the Mediterranean Sea, and is just a 15 minute stroll around vineyards from the villa.
Fitou is located within the Narbonne Regional Park and near a large salt-water lake, where you will see flamingos; just a few kms from the Mediterranean Sea. In medieval times Fitou was the very last village in France before reaching Spain on the Mediterranean side (The border has changed a few times since).
Just inland you will find 1000-year-old medieval Cathar castle sites perched high on rugged hilltops. These were built as defences against numerous invading forces and should be on your 'must-visit' itinerary. The old Spanish border fort of Salses (was Spanish, now French) is a 10-15 minute drive and the closest current border crossing point into Spain is around 35 minutes.
Villa Saureto provides a perfect holiday base for couples and families - with beaches nearby in one direction, and mountains and Cathar castles in the other. If you are looking for a sunbathing, wind-surfing, sailing, walking or mountain-biking holiday, then Fitou provides the ideal location. Perhaps a cultural visit to study the region's history, or a steady stroll into the village for a few 'Fitou' wine tasting sessions is more your style. If so, you will be spoilt for choice.
You also have the on-site pools (one heated early and late summer season), and nearby beaches, an African Safari park alongside the neighbouring village of Sigean, and water parks along the coast.
Golf courses are located about 40 minutes along the coast near the Spanish border at St Cyprien and La Forêt.Perpignan.
Narbonne, the Canal du Midi, Carcassonne, Collioure and Toulouse are all within easy reach of the villa. Day trips can also be made to Barcelona (1½ hrs drive each way, or take the train) and Andorra (3 hrs drive each way) .
