Description from owner

Description

Welcome to our quirky detached self-catering cottage, nestled in a peaceful woodland setting adjacent to a dramatic gorge and river - a beautiful viewpoint with picnic table provided for your use at any time. Dogs are more than welcome at no extra charge (fully fenced garden) ... with miles of hill and forest walks available straight from the door, it's their holiday too!!!. Foyers village is found in a rural location in the Highlands, on the quiet southern banks of world famous Loch Ness. The river Foyers tumbles down from the Upper Falls of Foyers and winds it's way through the stunning tree lined gorge to join the loch. We are midway along the South Loch Ness Trail, a relatively new 28 mile waymarked route, which stretches from Loch Tarff (a few miles from Fort Augustus) to the Torbreck woods on the outskirts of Inverness (maps are provided in the cottage or can be found online). Excellent kayaking and cycling area, and swimming in Loch Ness (very recently officially voted the cleanest fresh water wild swimming location in the UK!!). The cottage is also the perfect base to go farther afield and explore the diverse and stunning Highlands and Islands, packed with countless Glens, Castles, pristine beaches, waterfalls, lochs and ancient forests.

We highly recommend spending an evening stargazing from the garden on clear nights by the firepit. Truly spectacular! Deer, red squirrels, pine martens, badgers, bats, owls, our own 'herd' of pheasants and a variety of small birds are all frequent visitors to the garden - and on occasion a herd of wild goats!

Foyers village benefits from having a local Inn, cafes and hotels (catering to non residents), all within walking distance of the cottage. Inverness is approximately 25 miles away for those who wish to explore the Capital City of the Highlands with its huge selection of excellent restaurants, cafes and shops. Ness Bank and Islands walks are not to be missed.

The cottage has an open plan design and facilities comprise of: log burner*; fitted kitchen, electric fan oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, combined washing machine/dryer, microwave, toaster, Delonghi Dolce Gusto pod coffee machine, electric food steamer. A good supply of crockery, cutlery, pans and utensils. Bedroom area with double bed and wardrobe, dressing table, Hairdryer supplied Bed linen and towels supplied; bathroom with shower, toilet and basin. Snug to left of bedroom has 2 seater sofa, Samsung 4K Smart TV and Sony BluRay player, good selection of DVDs (please ask for a supply), log burner*, coffee table. Free Wifi available. Fully fenced pet friendly garden. Garden table and chairs, wooden sun loungers, barbecue and fire pit.

*Woodburning stoves are in addition to electric heating. We have large bags of logs and kindling available for purchase on arrival.

Ample parking is provided with plenty of room for boat and trailer. Public slips can be found at Fort Augustus and Dores.. Fishing can also be found minutes from the let.

Our cosy cottage is ideal for a couple or single person seeking a holiday in the Highlands that is not lacking in comfort and facilities.

We look forward to welcoming you.

“Best wee cottage on the Ness”

Reviewed 24 May 2023

This is a totally beautiful wee place Photos do not do it justice at all. It is in the most beautiful location, but not good if you don’t like heights. It is located on the edge of a gorge, protected by a fence. Absolutely stunning. The green from the trees is incredible and the sounds from the birds just beautiful. Just a short walk down by the river to the loch Beautiful The cottage itself is small but perfect for 2 people. Very clean and with lots of extra amenities in the kitchen. Very comfy bed and decent shower We had a really lovely time here. Very comfortable and cosy at night We didn’t need to use the log burners but imagine they would be amazing on a cold night Definitely recommend this beautiful and unique cottage Gary the host very courteous and helpful We had the best time

“Cosy cottage in great location”

Reviewed 26 Feb 2023

We really enjoyed our stay. Warm & cosy, well equipped and a fantastic location with the Foyers falls and gorge at the end of the garden. Lots of information was provided to help us manage our time and see the best of the area. The views from The Suidhe are epic. Had a lovely meal at The Craigdarroch Inn, a short walk away. Would also recommend a visit to Urquhart Castle on the opposite side of the Loch.
