Description

The Croft house is beautifully situated beside Loch Stockinsh, in the Minch sea next to one of the few small working fishing harbours, at Stockinish pier.

The self catering accommodation sleeps 4 adults, 1 child and one toddler with option of a further 2 adults or children on double sofa bed downstairs.

Set in its own grounds and in the desirable Bays area on the east coast of the isle of Harris it sits away from the small road that leads to the port and is sheltered by the hills that surround it. Its perfectly positioned for a holiday of seclusion and privacy and in the summer the sun shines on the house from dawn to dusk.

The Calmac ferry port of Tarbert is only 10 minutes away where there are local amenities and the ferry terminal back to Uig on the Isle of Skye.

The house is well located for both the beautiful east coast of Harris and the west coast beaches of Luskentyre and Seilebost are a 10 minute drive away.

On entering the house the beautiful Rayburn stove takes center stage in the open plan living accommodation which is decorated tastefully with bright white stone walls , solid wood floors, wooden lintels and a large kitchen and dining room perfect for cooking, entertaining, and relaxing whilst on holiday. There is a washer dryer,a cooker and a dishwasher to make life more comfortable too.

At the other end of the house is the sitting room where the old 1960’s Esse Dragon woodburner takes pride of place making things toasty and warm if needs be. The house is also centrally heated. Logs and kindling for the stove can be found at various places around Harris.

WIFI is available throughout the house and a pay phone. We kindly ask guests to use the wifi sparingly as the croft house uses a special wireless network common to the Western Isles and download limits are capped each month. We would like to make sure everyone has the opportunity to use the wifi and for us to be able to offer it free

The accommodation upstairs has been tastefully kept in the traditional Croft House style with white floors and paneled walls and ceilings that were particular to these white houses of that time.

The accommodation comprises three bedrooms on the first floor with a large double room a twin room and a single childrens bedroom with a single bed and small bed.

There is an additional double sofa bed in the living room for two children.

On the first floor there is a good size bathroom with a beautiful old cast iron bath and a separate power shower cubicle to cover all needs.

All rooms upstairs rooms are pleasantly lit with Velux windows to give as much natural light as possible.

Bed linen and towels are provided.

There is also our Crofthouse Ecopod next door that is listed to rent separately or if additional guest accomodation is required. It sleeps 2 people in a double bed.

Getting around

The island bus stops at the top of our road about 200m from the house. It comes a various times each day and takes you to Tarbert or Leverbrough and beyond to Lewis.

Interaction with guest

We are not on site as this is our own family holiday cottage but we are just an email away and will usually reply the same day. Katy our friend and cleaner is available on the island to help if there are any problems.

How do damage deposits work?

If Jonny (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
