“Wow what a fantastic holiday” Anne ,Chris & Riley were very welcoming and friendly. They were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the island and the information they provided was very useful. The house has everything and more for what you require and the real fire is so welcoming. Views were amazing especially looking down to the bridge and river. We would love to return in the spring when you have longer hours of sunlight because when it gets dark it really gets dark. However the dark nights are also a bonus as we did not know there were so many stars in the sky.

“One of the best locations ever” We stayed in Mol Ban for two weeks in June and it was hard to leave on the last day. We never found such a perfect service any time before. A warm welcome with a fantastic birthday cake, goodies and towels for the dogs, a big water bowl. A perfectly equipped kitchen, we often used it in order to watch the seals during our meal. We`re missing words to discribe this wonderful place better. Hope we will come back there. Mol Ban is one of the most beautiful places in the world we`ve ever been. Ard HolidayCottage, Great Bernera, Lewis, Hebrides

Great Bernera house

2 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 4

“The ard, a home from home.” We came to the Isle of Lewis as it was an area of Scotland as yet unexplored. Knowing the unpredictability of the weather we wanted a comfortable and warm place to stay. In the ard we found what we wanted, an ideal place to stay for an autumnal holiday break. On arrival there were delicious homemade scones which were devoured with relish and a most beautiful bunch of flowers. Norma gave us warm welcome and on walking through the front door the warmth of the home embraced us and we settled in immediately. The most comfortable place I've stayed with wonderful views and everything within easy access. We had the use of bikes and fishing rods and when the weather permitted we made the most of them. Fishing near the Norse mill at the inlet seemed too easy as the mackeral were leaping out of the water! On cycling back from Bosta beach we followed a golden eagle, a truly magnificent sight which crowned our magical visit to Bosta. We had many more wonderful days exploring Bernera and Lewis/Harris, a week wasn't long enough. The ard had a lovely log burning stove which we were looking forward to lighting but as the house was so warm and comfortable the opportunity didn't arise. Needless to say we had a wonderful holiday but having seen only part of the island we will have to return and explore the rest, returning the to the ard as its the only place for us to stay.

One Manish

Isle of Harris house

3 bedrooms / 3 bathrooms / sleeps 6

“Fantastic” One Manish is true getaway destination. Surrounded by sea and sheep this is truly one of the most peaceful places in the UK. We stayed here with 3 children and grandparents and, without fail, every single person loved this place. The house is really nicely tucked away overlooking the water with beautiful views towards Skye. Inside the cottage there's a great stove and range although neither were needed because the underfloor heating was magic. Rooms are all extremely comfortable and well presented and facilities are second to none. This is a really warm and welcoming place to relax and switch off. On Harris there are magnificent beaches, mountains and wildlife in abundance. Lots of activities including watersports(boogie boarding at Luskentyre is brilliant), walking, fishing(freshwater and sea) and coffee shops(try Skoon art cafe - really nice). Tarbert Stores is also a great stop if you need anything DIY and even if you don't it's well worth a visit if you're in Tarbert. Alternatively you could quite happily stay at One Manish and do absolutely nothing but relax and look out the window.

Harris Holiday Home -Glen Carragrich
A perfect cottage in heavenly Harris!

A wonderful week in a beautiful holiday cottage. Glen Carragrich is perfectly placed with lovely views (you can watch the ferry from Uig coming in to the bay at Tarbert), and the cottage is excellently-equipped, immaculately clean, and very comfortable. The weather was quite kind to us during our week (earl august 2013), and the midges not too unkind. We enjoyed the wildlife (eagles, deer, divers, etc.), the majestic beauty of the Golden Road and the road out to Hushinish, the Callanish stones, black-houses, and Iron age Broch, a visit to Stornoway and the Butt of Lewis, and - of course - the golden beaches of the west coast.see more
Croft house on Atlantic west coast, Isle of Lewis
Beautiful Cottage

We had the pleasure of staying here for a week. Very clean and homely. Good facilities including a full size fridge and freezer and a must have on a self catering holiday a full size dishwasher! It was great on an evening to come back and have a peat fire. Even the little things had been thought of, like a box of dog bowls and towels. We would definitely stay here again.see more
One Manish
Wow!

Observe the sheep, birds and seals from the window, put on one's boots and set off across the island from the door, be remote and peaceful ... Clean, comfortable, cosy, spacious, and no smell of dogs (because no pets allowed) ... Just perfect in autumn when we visited - weather good (Not too cold and no heavy rain or winds) and no midge problem. Maybe Harris isn't for everyone: very few shops, nothing open on Sunday, no chance of getting a suntan, no night-life, hard to get to ... But for us it was heavenly and One Manish was the icing on the cake (if you'll excuse the mixed metaphor).see more
Ard HolidayCottage, Great Bernera, Lewis, Hebrides
Beautiful cottage, stunning views, lovely island

This was our fist trip to the Hebrides, and the Ard was a perfect base from which to explore the Isle of Lewis. The cottage itself is immaculate - very clean, with excellent facilities, every comfort you could want, and a very picturesque sea view from the balcony, or even just sitting in the warmth inside. Norma, our Hostess, was very friendly and welcoming, having left us some sparkling wine and home baking on our arrival, then showing us all we needed to know about the equipment in the cottage when she arrived in the evening (she had been helping out at the Carnival in Stornoway when we arrived, and the cottage was left unlocked - an aspect of island life which I thoroughly appreciate) Great Bernera itself is a lovely little island attached to Lewis by bridge, with lots to see packed into a compact area - Bosta Beach is a must; Lewis has lots to offer with several archaeological sites, such as Callanish and the Blackhouses, and some incredible coastal scenery, especially around Uig. Lewis covers a large area, so there is a fair bit of driving to get around, but the roads are seldom busy and the views - wherever you are - are quite magnificent. Our sole "niggle", if you could call it that, was the ferocious midgie attack we endured the day after our arrival, but we understand from Norma that it was particularly bad that day, and, being august, was the height of "midgie season". All in all though, it was a great holiday experience, and the homeliness of "Isles Radio" kept us smiling warmly throughout.see more
Molban - 18a Lingerbay-selfcatering-isleofharris
A perfect retreat with your own live show!

I have to admit, when we arrived on Harris and took the east coast road to Molban through the moonscape scenery, we wondered where on earth we had come! However, as soon as we walked into Molban it was like entering a warm and spacious cocoon. The view onto the bay is mesmerising and as the weather was pretty windy and wet, it was a haven to be on the other side of glass behind the elements! The house is very well kitted out and even though there were a couple of places to eat out, we cooked in most nights as it would have been a shame to leave the view! We had all sorts of plans to do all sorts of things but somehow never got around to 3/4 of them! The one full sunny day we had, we could not tear ourselves away from the shelter of the headland just beyond the back garden fence, just watching all 11 seals doing exactly the same as us..basking in the sun! Molban gets you by the short and curlies and does'nt want to let you go. It was the perfect place to re charge weary batteries from the hubbub of daily life. The west coast beaches are stunning and its definitely worth exploring the other bays too if you get the chance...they all have lovely galleries, all different, and if you come away empty handed you are stronger than we were! Great art work allowing us to take some of Harris home with us.see more
Lochan View Cottage, Beautiful Loch Side Setting
Welcoming, comfortable and thoughtful.

Lochan View Cottage was a great place to stay. It was clean, well-equipped and homely. We stayed for a week with two of our children, 10 & 13 and our large Labradoodle Max. It catered for all our needs, we were warm, we fished on the Loch just beyond the garden, we played puzzles and games from the stash in the cupboard when it rained and it was a welcoming place to return to after a day walking or seeing the sights. Max thought he was in heaven, lots of space, a warm fire and sheep wandering in and out of the garden. We will return to explore more of Lewis and Harris and relax in this lovely cottage.see more
