Building on the fantastic reputation of Sundown Cottage, already advertised on this website we now introduce our latest cottage - Taigh Chalum - a new and very special romantic retreat.

Taigh Chalum again boasts one of the most spectacular views in the Hebrides - a 40 mile vista of natural lochs & hills. A beautiful cottage, with a deck to admire and relax in the fantastic view. The cottage also boasts a solid wood burning stove and stylish interior decor. It has a fully facilitated kitchen, 2 bedrooms both with ensuite facilities. Located 10 minutes from the main town of Stornoway, also within 15 minutes of the famous Callanish Stones.

Taigh Chalum is pet & family friendly. Given its location, it is well suited to those interested in nature & the outdoors; bird watchers, walkers, fishermen, surfers, etc. Also offering peace & tranquility for individuals simply wanting away from it all.

“Taigh Chalum”

Fabulous cottage-the photos don't do it justice. Cozy and warm with a fab log burner. Christine has thought of everything from very fluffy towels and local soap to corkscrew and soup blender! We were so touched to walk in to lit candles and a gift bag full of local produce. What a lovely surprise.Would definitely recommend a holiday here. Christine was so thoughtful and helpful.

“Achmore stay”

Christine’s cottage at Achmore is wonderfully comfortable and well equipped. We particularly appreciated the personal touches - the fresh flowers and of course the delicious goodies left for us by Christine! The central location is perfect for exploring Lewis and Harris by car. It was unfortunate that due to a strong northeasterly wind we could not use the wood burning stove- but stayed toasty warm with central heating. Christine Was an attentive host - she provided loads of local useful info and recommendations and was on hand in case of need. Would highly recommend !

Taigh Chalum is a lovely property. Very clean and in good order. Everything available for self catering plus added extras which we wouldn't have expected. eg wine, salmon pate, biscuits, chocolates and lots of fresh flowers. We lit the fire every evening and the atmosphere was lovely. The house was warm in the morning which was nice., Car parking was great. Because we have dogs it is essential that the car is not on a main road and that there is somewhere close by to walk them first thing. This location was ideal and it was also very private. Christine very kindly met us the first night and showed us around. We were made to feel very welcome.

If Christine (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
