“Lovely loft that suited our needs.” The loft was a lovely place for my family and I to stay for our trip to Yosemite. I would reomend it as a place to stay and drive a short distance to Yosemite. Shell and her family are very friendly and welcoming and I would most definately stay here again if my travels would warrent. Which I hope they do! Yosemite is a great place to visit and staying at the Old Oak Hideway 1 was perfect for us.

“Home from home” At the end of our touring holiday in California, when deciding which had been our favourite location and accomodation, this one came out tops with everyone (mum, dad, and 2 teenagers). Our main reason for going to the area was to visit Yosemite National Park, where we spent two long days. It seemed a shame that we didn't have more time to spend in this beautiful home in its peaceful location. Both of the park entrances were almost an hour away, but through beautiful countryside, so for us it was part of trip. However if someone was wanting to make an early start on some of the trails, they might wish they had chosen a closer location. Mariposa itself was a lovely town, full of character, but we made the mistake of leaving exploring it to the morning we left - and discovered that nothing opened till after 10am - and we couldn't hang around that long. The house was great, and we were completely undisturbed. Having two bathrooms helped speed up our departure each morning. And the two teenagers were glad to have separate beds instead of having to share a double. The big washer and dryer were great (this was the half way point on our tour - we were running low on clean clothes!). The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in - I wished I could take it home! Eating outside every morning and evening, in complete privacy (except for the morning visit by the wild turkeys)and quiet, was wonderful. There was absolutely everything we needed, (and a few things we didn't need - like a karaoke machine!) a real home from home.

“Perfect Place for a Railroad History Buff” If you are a train buff, don't you want to try the incredible experience of staying in a caboose? The restored caboose has many amenities including a kitchenette, deck with a barbecue, beautiful surroundings, DVD player and tv, and a lovely family as hosts. “Loved everything about D&E; Digs!” I highly recommend this charming cottage and lovely setting. Donna and Eric are great and a wealth of information. They are accessible if you need them, otherwise they are out of sight. The bed is very comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. Loved the basket of fruit and muffins. A very thoughtful and appreciated touch. Take a good book or a bottle of wine up to the "hideaway" and enjoy the peace and quiet with the subtle sweet scent of pine needles in the air. Great location too in that it's a short drive to Mariposa or Oakhurst for a night out to good restaurants. We had a great stay in a great place and great hosts in Donna and Eric. We will no doubt return!

“Lovely refurbished property with great location” My family and I wanted to visit Yosemite with friends who were visiting. The cost of hotel rooms in the Valley was excessive when compared to renting a property for the weekend so we chose Yosemite Hideaway. Upon arrival we were very pleased to note how clean the property was and how well the refurbishment had gone. The pictures do not do the place justice. It was perfect for our needs 2 young children and 4 adults. The location is excellent being very close to Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove. Please bear in mind that the lcoation is excellent for the road to Glacier Point but this road is closed in Winter by the National Park Service. Please bear in mind that the property is located at the top of quite a few wooden steps and the owners advised us to bring winter chains for the car and our shoes! We did not need them but best to go prepared.
