Description from owner

Description

A mile from the Estate entrance, Strathan Cottage nestles among the hills and fields and often, in the evenings, deer come in to the gardens to graze. Attadale Estate offers glorious walking (including two Munros), loch and river fishing. When you stay in Strathan Cottage, you have complimentary access to Attadale Gardens at all times.

Strathan Cottage is a well-built 1950s cottage, a semi-detached bungalow which can sleep up to six. There is a comfortable sitting room with an open fire. The kitchen includes a dining table and a larder. There are three bedrooms, one king size, one double and a twin bedroom. The bathroom includes a shower and lavatory. There is an additional lavatory and basin available.

It has an electric cooker, microwave oven, fridge, freezer, immersion heaters, electric heaters in all rooms, shaver socket and heated rail in the bathroom.

Baby cot and high chairs available.

There is no television reception but there is a DVD player. Wi-Fi is available but it is satellite so limited in speed, you can check your emails but not do streaming.

The tariff includes the use of the cottage and all its contents.

Duvets and linen are supplied, including towels. Wood is also included for the newly installed wood burning stove.

A self-service launderette is available at Attadale House.

“Value for money cottage, well situated for an outdoor holiday”

Reviewed 30 Jun 2014

We spent a very enjoyable week recently at Strathan Cottage. Our party was three people, but there is plenty of room for a family of four. The cottage is nicely and simply furnished, and clean. We lived most of the time in the kitchen which has a large table and is good for communal living. The rented cottages are situated together well away from the road and main house. Our dog enjoyed long daily walks. There is plenty of wildlife to see, with red deer beside the cottage some evenings. The cottage is well placed for outdoor activities, especially hill walking. Only minor quibbles, which we mentioned to the owners. No hair dryer, ideally more outside seating (for when the midges are asleep). No dishwasher or washing machine (although laundry can be done at Attadale House). I still thought very good value for money. A big plus is free entry to nearby Attadale Gardens. All the entries in the guest book were very complimentary so we are not the only ones to have enjoyed our stay. We had good weather too - but I'm afraid it is never possible to promise that to all visitors to north west Scotland!

Response from the owner Thank you for your kind review. You will be pleased to know that we have now provided wooden tables and chairs which can remain outside year round - for each of our cottages - so if you're lucky enough to have sunny days, you can sit outside during the day and in the evening. With water coming off the hill we have to be quite careful with our water consumption - hence the lack of washing machines. Thank you again.
