Wind Song is the perfect place to rest and rejuvenate while enjoying the best that the Adirondacks can offer. By the shores of waters considered to be an undiscovered jewel of the Adirondacks, Wind Song is also close to shopping and other attractions that will enhance your stay in the mountains. Nestled in the northern Adirondacks close to NYS Route 30, Wind Song invites you to enjoy a secluded Adirondack retreat while allowing you easy access to Malone (13 miles), the Adirondack Visitor's Interpretive Center at Paul Smith's (19 miles), Titus Mountain Ski Resort (10 miles) and a host of outdoor activities.
Wind Song sits under a stand of grand old white pines on the shore of a small, tranquil pond that flows into the larger Deer River Flow. For the paddler or fisherman, it is a slice of Adirondack heaven. The fishery of Horseshoe Pond and Deer River Flow is a critically important state fishery for several sport species. Birders will find heron, osprey, loons and bald eagles. For a family, it can be a vacation to remember. For the person just looking to get away from it all, it is a quiet retreat from the rush of modern life.
The camp includes two bedrooms with two twin beds each, a living room with a fold-out couch, and an entertainment center with television, VCR, radio and CD player. The kitchen has standard appliances including refrigerator/freezer, stove and oven, and microwave. The bath has a vanity, toilet and shower. A full-sized water heater provides plenty of hot water. The dining room and office has a full view of the pond. Attached to the dining room is a large screened porch that is a lovely place to relax and enjoy the view. An outbuilding is available for storage during your stay.
As with many Adirondack camps, the greatest attraction is the water. A short paddle will bring you the breathtaking scenery and mountain vistas that Horseshoe Pond affords. A longer one will take you to Deer River Flow, and its magical views. Access for canoes, kayaks and swimming is easy from the grassy beach next to the dock by the boathouse. The boathouse is not available for use; however, canoes and kayaks may be secured safely to the dock. (If you need to rent a canoe for your stay, consider Mac's Canoe Livery in Clear Lake, 30 miles south on Rt. 30, (website: hidden).) Motorboats are discouraged. Horseshoe Pond flows into the larger Deer River Flow just downstream from Wind Song; both water bodies have excellent fishing. There is a campground within a few miles with access to the Flow for larger boats.

Additional Location Information
Wind Song is an Adirondack cottage in a woodsy setting on a short dirt lane that parallels the shores of Horseshoe Pond. It is the second cottage on the lane, and while neighbors are near, they are not on top of the property. The properties on either side of Wind Song are private vacation properties that are infrequently inhabited. Wind Song is, therefore, a very private, cozy retreat.

We had a delightful time in the cabin. It served us well as a quiet base from which to enjoy the local sights as well as to go further into the Adirondacks. We fished the pond early every morning and caught enough bass to release most and still have a couple of meals. We had a couple of very nice fish and lost a couple of b-i-g ones. The highlight, though, was following a tip from a local to a secluded brook and catching an 18-20" brook trout. We went on a number of hikes with the dogs, flushed a couple of grouse, and picked most of a bucket of wild blueberries, which were quickly converted to bb pancakes, muffins, and cobbler. The weather was superb - what a perfect break from the Florida summer! We found the cabin roomy, comfortable, and well-equipped. We found the lack of TV and Internet to be a plus, and when we absolutely needed to communicate a 4-mile drive north up the hill to Elephant Head trail to get a cell phone signal was not a big inconvenience. As far as suggestions, the cabin could have been cleaner, but we understand that the owner has resolved that problem.
"Amazing getaway that has something for the whole family to enjoy"

I couldn't have been happier with the whole experience. From the minute I had questions to after my stay, Theresa was absolutely wonderful. Very honest and assuring with everything. My family loved the privacy and the getaway from City life. We loved the coziness of Wind Song! We fished only a very short walk to the lake right from the porch! Went exploring in the woods and found interesting things. Nights are so quiet and peaceful watching the stars. From the lake is a gorgeous view of the mountains. It's a great way to bond with your family. It's so clean and refreshing waking up to that breathtaking view. It was truly a blessing to have Theresa Beddoe share this wonderful gem with us. We loved it and would definitely stay longer next time!
