A great base for a relaxing Lake District holiday

Left on Apr 11, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

If you don't mind the low hum of the motorway, or the whoosh of the West Coast Mainline, then this is the ideal base in the Lake District. It's perfectly located for local walks around the fells or along the River Lune away from the general overcrowding of the Lake District itself. Equally it's just a short drive to the biggest lakes - we spent a great day at Ullswater and also visited Windermere…

After booking with Sykes - a simple procedure - we received a welcome phone-call from the owners. On arrival, the heating had been on and the cottage was lovely and clean, cosey and welcoming. The furnishings were first-class and the cottage was well-equipped.
We found it to be conveniently situated for all parts of Wensleydale and for our forays across the snow-bound hills into Swaledale! We …

Such Potential - Just not finished enough

Left on Mar 31, 2015 for a stay in March 2015

First impressions aren't great, there is what appears to be a recycled double glazed front door, it doesn't fit with look …
