“Gwalia”

Reviewed 11 Sep 2021

We booked this in August as it was the only place available. The reason why became clear later. For personal reasons we could not travel on the dates booked but the owner did give us new dates. In our hurry to book we did not look at the T&C or photos. Big mistake. They charged £450 for 2 nights for a basic accommodation. We arrived and saw the condition of the property very drab and old fashioned with a very old carpet. They also expect you to bring sheets and towels and PAY for electricity. I ask why and she said this was COVID related. This cannot be the case as a review in 2019 made the same comment. Reading the review from 2014 made us aware that little had changed. We did not stay and went home. We had rented a bright and airy cottage in Pwllheli for half the price.

Response from the owner This is a most unpleasant review from someone who booked bank holiday weekend. Then cancelled the day before expectiing a full refund. We offered another weekend for free. Look at the previous reviews and please ignore this very unpleasant person.

“A lovely holiday cottage!”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2021

The cottage is really lovely with amazing views of the hills and off-road parking. The house is very well-equipped with all kitchen utensils, bath mats, tea towels and a lovely selection of DVDs and board games! There are beaches a 10 min drive away on both sides (although not walking distance), with lots of variety depending on what you like. Ann and Ray were very helpful and accommodating, we would definitely recommend this place. Thank you Ann and Ray!

“Perfect little cottage”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2021

Had a perfect stay in the cottage, even the weather behaved itself! The cottage was well equipped & comfortable with everything we needed. The location is great, with the beach just a short drive away. There is a pub just a few minutes walk away which opened from 7pm - 10pm, the barman was really friendly, as were the locals we met Ann was great to deal with, nothing was too much trouble; even managed to catch up with her on the way home! We would definitely go back, had a super time & would recommend to anyone

“Exactly "What it says on the Tin"”

Reviewed 29 Jul 2020

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend escape at this traditional Welsh cottage, which is in a very central and convenient position with amazing southerly views from the back. Original part of cottage is homely and (in more modern extension) there is a well equipped kitchen and decent bathroom. Top of the stairs a bit tricky to negotiate but there is a night safety light which helps. Otis, our dog, enjoyed it too - he is well behaved but we needed to accompany him outside as there is no fencing between the road and garden. Village shop nearby + pub which was closed due to current restrictions. Parking on site or on road opposite. Bit of a patchy signal on our O2 mobile phones. Need to take your own towels and bed linen. Electricity charged extra. The cottage was clean and well equipped. Owner seemed friendly, caring and communicated well. All in all, good value for money and we had a great weekend.

Response from the owner Thanks for your review. Glad you had a nice 4 days with your daughter and dog. The village shop is open from 8am to noon and from 4pm to 7pm. It is a community shop run by volunteers and at present only serves from the door but it is well stocked. Welcome you back anytime.

“Fabulous home from home with fabulous views”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2016

Absolutely loved Ann and Ray's place, the cottage is a proper home from home with beautiful views and is so quiet - grab a book and a glass of wine ;) If it gets really sunny you'll be hard-pushed to go anywhere as the view over the coast and the private sun-trap will have you there all day. We loved it! And so did our friends that came to stay for a few nights. Ann and Ray were really friendly, accommodating and undersanding (we had to change our plans twice due to unforeseen circumstances at the last minute). Stunning beaches close-by and great walks from the doorstep - we can't wait to go back :)
