“romantic” We stayed for two nights to celebrate our 41st anniversary. The cottage was right on the water, very clean, and decorated beautifully - glorious fireplace - which Nanae had already set up for us (thank you!). Though we did not cook - had we wanted to, everything was available in the kitchen. The whole setting was breathtaking - and though we were not fortunate enough to see any whales - we did see an otter and two magnificent eagles fly by. The whole island is a romantic destination. If I could have wished for just one thing, it would have been to have a hot tub so we could have "bubbled" under the incredible blanket of stars.

“It is magnificent” A living example of the designer's eye and the carpenter's skill. A place of quiet retreat and refreshment for the soul. A stout, warm shelter hidden in ancient woods. Starfire Cabin is all of these, but you will find more. Patrick Orton's photographs do it perfect justice. It is magnificent. We highly recommend a stay. We will be back.

“Lovely Retreat Space” Whether you want to organize a personal or group retreat, gather the family for a vacation, or spend a romantic wknd with your partner- this vacation home accommodates all. Living and dining spaces have gigantic picture windows with expansive views of Holmes Harbor and the mountains behind them. You can spend hours on the desk watching the tides coming and going, eagles being chased by ravens, or bask in the sun. It only takes a few steps to cross the lawn and you are on the beach, from which you can launch your boat, or collect sand dollars and shells. Oh, and before I forget: the house also comes with an extensive CD collection with selections from all genres-- and you can turn up the music and dance and sing to your heart's content. We had a soulful retreat at "Baby Beach" and left tons of good energy behind !

“Perfect little cabin for a get away.” We were very happy with our decision to stay in this cabin while on a fishing trip. Cute, clean, great location and all the comforts of home. Would recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet place to stay away from a town/city and soak up the natural beauty of the area. We intend to stay again very soon.

About North Vancouver

North Vancouver gives visitors the opportunity to discover a side of the city that is connected to nature.

World-class mountain bike trails and rainforests are all just minutes away from Vancouver’s major attractions. And with FlipKey you'll be able to find the perfect rental for your North Vancouver vacation.

About North Vancouver

Considered as being a suburb of Vancouver, North Vancouver is a waterfront community just across from mainland Vancouver, on the north shore of Burrard Inlet. It's the smallest of the three north shore communities, and is connected to Vancouver by two bridges and a SeaBus service.

More than just a scenic backdrop to one of the world’s most dynamic cities, North Vancouver is a vibrant place teeming with possibilities.

After all, how many places in the world allow you to be able to spend the morning skiing and the afternoon playing a round of golf?

If you love to get out on the water, head downhill from just about anywhere and you’ll be on the Pacific Ocean where you’ll find a rich diverse coastline dotted with coves and islands.

When it comes to shopping and nightlife, North Vancouver has shopping and food to rival Toronto and Montreal.

What to do

No matter what time of year you visit North Vancouver, you’ll find plenty of things to do. Late November is when ski season kicks off with three top resorts all within a 30-minute drive of downtown.

Experience the great outdoors with a visit to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park Cliffwalk, and Treetop Adventure, where you can uncover a mix of history, culture, and adventure that is unique to the North Shore.

During the summer, it’s time to head to the beach, go sea kayaking or hit the many hiking trails and parks that surround the city. Throughout the summer, the free concerts and the Ship Yard Night Market is where locals go to hang out.

Fall is all about the salmon. Whether it is trying to catch one on a lure, or just visiting a hatchery to learn about their migration and why they spawn in the river they were born, you should definitely go take a look.

Top North Vancouver travel tips

North Vancouver enjoys a mild winter and a relatively warm summer, with July and August prone to nearly no rain. As for the rest of the year, keep an umbrella handy as this is the Pacific Northwest!

Buy a Transit Link day pass for $9.75 and ride the 400 passenger SeaBus from Vancouver’s North Shore to Downtown Vancouver, where you can use the SkyTrain and city bus services to get around the city. For the best views of the city and an adventure in itself, take the Skyride Surf Adventure to the top of Grouse Mountain on the roof of a cable car.

North Vancouver is the part of the city where nature comes out to play in all its glory. It’s convenient for both downtown Vancouver and all outdoor activities, making it an ideal place to enjoy your Vancouver vacation. To find the right accommodation at the best rates, visit FlipKey.
