“Absolute Pleasure!!!”

Reviewed 30 Jul 2013

Village of Prines,{pronounced Priness),was a great base to explore both hinterland and beaches. Villa Sofia was magnificent and our host Manolis Del was extremely helpful, always available by phone but quietly unobtrusive. Our Villa was a beautifully restored 200+year old home updated with regard to history, located amongst village homes. The Villa had every amenity in perfect order to ensure our stay was memorable. Priness was dominated by friendly people,Manolia at the store was a gem.Yannis at the Taverna was justa special person.Yannis his mother father son and wife all became expat aussies.

We had stayed at this wonderfull place a group of friends, the house is situated in a traditional village of Crete, near Rethymo wich is one of the most beautifull places in Crete island, is a perfect point for visit Crete´s beaches. The house is new and very confortable, apart if you have any wish, the owner is very kind. There is 3 spacious bedrooms with 2 bathrooms, one living room, and a barbacue area with a small swiming pool, enaough for refresh before cooking in the barbacue with a glass of delicius wine, under the stars¡¡¡, at the corner of the main road, there is a small shop where you can buy tomatoes, oil...and everything you need the owmner is a very friendly lady...I recomended to enjoy this experience¡¡.

“Serene Retreat in a Great Location”

We spent about a week in the house, and we had a marvelous time. The house is spacious, well furnished and well laid out, with beautiful light all day and abundant peace and quiet. I especially enjoyed having a leisurely breakfast at the large dining room table and planning out how to spend the day. Its located outside the bustle of Rethymno, so it gives you a feel for what village life is like, but its close enough to the city to make it quite convenient by car. The little grocery and coffee place nearby eased any concerns we had that we would feel isolated. I cant wait to go back.

“Villa in Crete”

Reviewed 21 Feb 2012

We stayed at the house in early September. I was thrilled when I opened the door and saw the large modern, clean and open ground level. The house is beautifully restored with a clean modern kitchen, architecture fans will love it. Ancient village house and modern decor, a mix of old and new. It easily can fit 6 comfortably. I loved sitting out on the upper balcony in the mornings and looking out over the village houses. The neighbors gardens where ripe with pomegranate trees and bougainvillaea. It was easy to get from the house to the tourist sites around Crete, and there was a large super market on the main road before you come into the village where you could buy breakfast and other supplies. As you come into the village the road has some nice cafés and bake shops and there is a small store on the corner near the house. The family who own the house all speak English so it was easy for us since we do not Greek. We just had a great time there and would go back in a second there was so much more that we wanted to see in Crete.
