Description from manager

Description

This charming traditional stone cottage is tucked away in the quiet crofting community of Torrin and within easy walking access to one of the best beaches on the Isle of Skye. Situated near the head of Loch Slapin, Torrin is surrounded by fabulous scenery, sea and mountains: by Blaven - one of the majestic Black Cuillin and by three of the Red Cuillin - all of which offer incredible opportunities to walk, climb and explore locally as well as the rest of Skye, Raasay and Glenelg areas. Torrin is a friendly village and it is just 7 miles to the main village of Broadford where there are excellent local services including supermarkets, petrol, shops, hotels and restaurants.

Recently extended and refurbished, 1/2 of 17 now offers ideal holiday accommodation where traditional meets contemporary. Its new extension has created a large living space open plan to the kitchen which allows social interaction and floods the room with natural light and views that enhance the new space, whilst allowing the charm of the original cottage to remain in the other rooms.

After a day on the hills or exploring the Isle of Skye, the light, comfortable lounge has a wood burning stove to relax in front of while you read a book, do a jigsaw or play one of the many games that are provided. Alternatively, if weather allows, the new patio doors lead out onto decking where you can relax to watch the sun setting or continue into the garden where there is a picnic table for outdoor dining. The holiday cottage is double glazed with a combi boiler for instant hot water, electric heating, to compliment the wood burning stove. The new open plan kitchen is very well equipped with an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster etc and has a dining table that folds out to seat up to 6 people comfortably. In the shed outside, you will find the washing machine and tumble drier.

1/2 of 17 Torrin offers flexible sleeping accommodation for a maximum of 6 guests. Upstairs, there are 3 bedrooms; one king, one twin and one single whilst downstairs, there is now a charming bedroom with a feature stone wall and double bed. Built as a traditional island cottage, guests should note that the stairs are typically steep but there is a good handrail provided and stair gates provided top and bottom for safety if needed. The new bedroom on the ground floor is a welcome addition for those unable to use the stairs whilst the newly renovated ground floor bathroom lies next to this bedroom and has a large walk-in shower, basin and raised height W.C. for comfort.

This holiday cottage offers the chance of a wonderful holiday of relaxation and a rare opportunity to escape the digital information that now constantly bombards our lives. Due to its idyllic location, there is no TV due to poor reception and mobile phones do not generally work in the Torrin area – however there is a landline phone for local or emergency calls, a radio and CD player provided along with a range of CDs, comfortable settee and chairs, and a large selection of books, games and jigsaws to enjoy - it is a wonderful chance to rediscover conversation!

NB: for those who sadly cannot survive without wifi, there are solutions: an EE sim gives 4g signal most of the time, a quick trip into Broadford finds wifi in Cafe Sia, or why not download films etc to your computer ready to watch by the fire. USB/universal ports are provided in the cottage for charging.
