“Perfection!”

Reviewed 14 Nov 2021

What a great find! Stunning cottage in a perfect location. Very quite. One of the best hot tubs we’ve ever used, in its own private courtyard. Cottage itself is Leo cosy and warm, also beautifully decorated. Lovely touches like farm eggs, welsh cakes and fresh coffee on arrival. Owner Margaret is lovely and offered us to check out whenever we liked as no one was staying the day after us. Very kind! The cottage is a ten min drive to Hafod Estate with beautiful walks and watersfalls. Devils bridge and waterfalls is very close too. If you want to see the sea, Aberystwyth is about an 18 minute drive away.

“Ideal location for peaceful break in beautiful country side with easy access to coast.”

Reviewed 8 Aug 2021

This is a beautifully appointed cottage on a working farm with easy access to a variety of amenities indoors and out. Wonderful walking country with such a variety of wildlife in the area, e.g.the Red Kite centre, dolphin-spotting boat trips, nature reserves and many more, alongside heritage attractions such as the The National Museum of Wales and the Arts Centre in Aberystwyth. For us, the warmth of the welcome from the owners, their intimate knowledge of the area and their willingness to do everything in their power to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possiible were outstanding.

“Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings”

Reviewed 27 Aug 2019

We stayed in Carthouse Cottage for 3 nights. The property is very comfortable and well equipped. It is quite remote so it is important to bring everything you might need with you to avoid lengthy treks to the nearest shops. The countryside around the farm is stunning, the views from the hill behind the farm are breath-taking. The only slight negative is that, although you have a sideways view of the hillside from the lounge and bedroom window, the outside patio area has no views and is surrounded by a fairly high wall. We would very happily return to Carthouse Cottage and recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing break in the mid-wales countryside.

Response from the owner Thank you for your lovely comments, I'm so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Just to say that the nearest shop for basics is 5 minutes away in Pontrhydygroes or otherwise 15 minutes to Pontrhydfendigaid - Tesco will also home deliver to the cottage.

If you want a relaxing stress free holiday then this is for you,the peace and quiet you have is amazing. The cottage was first class could'nt fault it very clean and tidy and all the mod coms including WiFi. Margaret {the owner} was very pleasant and helpful and provided us with lots of information regarding the local area which we found very useful. You are on a working farm which in fact adds to your holiday as we are big animal lovers( we took 2 small dogs} to see the farm animals up close was a treat. We would definitely go again
