Response from the owner So sorry that our home did not meet your expectations this Christmas. This is the message we received from our housekeeping manager at the conclusion of your stay "For your information, guests who departed today left the place in a very disrespectful way. The door was left open, the heat was on all the way up and all lights were on. There was garbage everywhere and bloody tissues and on sheets". This was accompanied by photos. We are disappointed as well and frankly expect more from our guests. This is our private home, and not a hotel. I wish you had let us known about these issues during your stay and we could have explained how things worked or sent a maintenance man. We did provide you with a fully decorated Christmas tree as you requested. To address your points: We are a ski-in, ski-out property on Whistler Mountain close to Creekside Village not in Whistler Village. Whistler Village (5 km) requires a taxi or a car. There is an information booklet for the appliances on the living room bookcase. There are no less than eight thermostats throughout the place, as well as a couple of space heaters, so you can set the heating as you would like. As advertised, the fireplace in the main room is wood burning, not gas - we provided you with complimentary firelogs for your stay. Three of the bedrooms have lamps, not overhead lights. The front door has a keyed bolt lock that is common in Canadian homes. If you were unfamiliar with this type of lock, I wish you had simply asked rather than leave the door wide open at the conclusion of your stay. As noted on the website, we have seven beds and sleep twelve if you sleep two in the double and queen beds. There is no need for any air mattresses. We can provide a landline if requested beforehand, but this is not standard as most guests use cell phones, and taxis can be ordered online at whistlertaxi.com as I mentioned to you. Again, sorry to have to read this review. We could have addressed these issues in a timely fashion if you had contacted us with them during your stay, and sent in a maintenance man if necessary.
