“Great Location, Disappointing Inside”
Ideal location, in need of many repairs/updates. Rusty pool, torn screened in porch, ants all over the place, many lamps not working. It's a shame the house was run down because the location/neighborhood is wonderful!!!
House was nice . Had early check in but house was not ready. 6or7 things were not right or broke & told the inspector when she showed up . only half were fixed. 2bathrooms had no tp . The biggest issue was house phone did not work & was never fixed all week . This is a Huge issue with 7kids in the house !!! I would like 911 to be reached at all times . The pool was not cleaned all week .
“Awesome time in corolla!!!”
This house is awesome! It has lots of amenities that others we have stayed at didnt have. The only downside was the wireless internet the router is in the closet outside near the pool, therefor when you are on the third floor you dont get a signal. It should probably be in the house so it can be used while in the living room. Other than that we had a great time in this beautiful house!
“not what we expected”
We were very unhappy with this house, it needed alot of updating and cleaning appliances were all rusted stove was not cleaned at all.It did not have the things we needed. Especially flash lights candles for emerency game pieces missing no iron we had to go out and buy one. We had always stay near avon and worked with Hatteress Realty and we were never dissappointed.
Response from the manager Gail, Thank you for letting us know now of your discontent with Pelican's Perch. We know a number of guests like you had already made arrangements to stay in Hatteras, but had to change your plans at the last minute. We are glad to have accommodated you and your group, and it was not our intent to disappoint you. We didn't realize there was any issue with the stove being rusted or dirty. This will be rectified, and by the way please let us know right away in the future of problems like this so we can correct them immediately. We will pass your suggestions along to the owner of the property so they will know some of the things you think need to be added. I'm sure your suggestions will be taken to heart. We hope we find a property more to your liking next time around. All the best from the beach!
“The great family vacation, an "ok" house.”
Pelicans Perch is a great house, with an excellent location. Unfortunately, it is very apparent that it is a rental property...and nothing more. After 4 PM, when we arrived at the house, we were greeted by the cleaners swimming in the pool, and showering in the outdoor shower. Subsequently we had to wait for the pool to be serviced, before we could use it. We asked the cleaners to clean the oven, which had not been cleaned. They promptly did so, but rendered the oven off limits for several hours during dinner time. The kitchen is very disorganized,(not necessarily the owners fault), and with only adequate utensils and equipment. A thorough inventory needs t be done! The overall cleanliness of the house could use improvement, the rugs need to be cleaned and the Master Bedroom sofa and pillows need to be freshened. The Master closet is full of useless items, and one hanger is not adequate. Other rooms had less that that! The shower drain was severely clogged, (I experienced the same thing last year). Some of the outdoor deck furniture is broken. The pool is beautiful, however several people felt a slight shock, when standing in the pool and toughing something outside of the water. We experienced the same thing last year. The keypad entry is very convenient! No more keys! We rent this home because it is next door to our other family members. It is extremely convenient.
“Beautiful view - house needs help”
Pros - Great location! Very close to the beach, with unobstructed views of the ocean. Crows nest w/deck was a great feature. Pool was small, but a nice amenity. Quiet, family neighborhood within a very short walk to the community pool and tenniscourts. Cons - house needs updating, rugs need to be cleaned or replaced, in addition to re-stocking the entire kitchen's cookware inventory. Pots and pans were barely usable. Overall, the pros beat out the cons, considering price. This house is considered oceanside, since its three houses back from the beach, however, there are no houses built on one side, so the veiws are amazing. Sort of like getting an oceanfront for the price of an oceanside.
“Love the location, house needs a lot of TLC.”
This was our second year staying at Pelicans Perch and we love the location. You can't beat it for the price. The house this past year seemed to be very run down and the outside furniture and pool are was filthy. During our week we had a broken pool light. A service man came to fix it but left wires exposed and said he would be back wednesday to finish it and never came back. Hot tub was broken, dryer needed repair and we didn't have cable or internet for four days. we would love to stay there again if some work was done to make the outside more inviting. Pool area especially. The umbrella has been broken for two years at least and a table to sit at and eat would be nice.
Response from the manager Mar, Thank you for you review of Pelican's Perch. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know of your experience. The unfortunate fact is that things do happen to these rental houses during folks' stay and we respond to them as soon and as professionally as possible. We are a bit confusted about the mention of the pool light being broken because that was actually something that happened during your stay (someone was evidently trying to ride a piece of plywood in the pool and it smashed into the light, thus breaking it) and we rectified it without question or charge to you or your guests. The other issues you pointed out we of course corrected promptly as wel. This is a wonderful property and we are glad that your group had a good stay this year. Here's hoping for a less eventful stay next time you are with us.
“Great location, ok house”
This house is literally steps from the beach...in a very nice location. The pool is quite small and feels a bit disconnected from the house since there are no decks on that side of the house. The house is definitely well used inside. Be sure to bring specific kitchen items you may want...pots in ok condition and a random assortment of utensils. We had to go out and buy a wine opener and a couple other things.
We enjoyed our week at Pelican's Perch in Corolla. The house was spacious and well equipped with a large table for 8 and plenty of pots and pans, sliverware, bowls, etc. The house had plenty of beach chairs for all and the pool and hot tub were very welcoming after spending most of the day on the beach. The house was very clean and had pool service on our arrival day and during the week. The keyless entry made getting in and out of the house hassel free for all of us and we didn't have to worry about lost keys. Everyone at Outerbanks Blue agency was very helpful and accomadating from the initial inquiry through out our stay. We opted for the early arrival option which was pricey ($112) for accessing the house at 1 pm but it was nice to get in before the 4 pm check-in time. We met up with the other family we were sharing the house with after we both drove over 6 hours in the parking lot of the community center. We wanted to say hello and figure out what to do for the next few hours before we were allowed to check in. The security guard for the community came over and could not of been any ruder and treated us like vandals. He would not let us stay in the empty parking lot for a minute for us to figure out what to do since we were not familiar with the area. We told him we were renting but couldn't get into the house yet and only needed a few minutes to figure out where to go. He told us we had to leave immediately. We were 2 families in SUV's with children so it was obvious we were not causing any trouble plus we were renters! He needs to be educated on customer service and understand that guests are arriving after traveling long distances and meeting in the parking lot is not a crime.
what a nice home. mere feet to the beach and very reasonably priced for its location. loved our stay in this home and would recommend to others.
