“Our stay allowed us to create alot of wonderful memories!”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2014

Overall, the stay was wonderful! The size of the home was more than accomodating and it was nice to have so many options to sleep! The ease of booking and check in was 5 star! The only down side to this vacation was that the home was not extremely clean and there was an alarm going off in the backyard that was pretty loud. We found a couple of things that may have been left by the cleaning company, but were a bit unsettling. There was a surgeons mask left in one room and insulin needles in another. Also, there was an alarm that went off early one morning in the back yard that was flashing and had a loud beeping noise. We could not turn it off and because it was New Year's day there was no one available to come out and fix the situation. As mentioned before, these are all things that are minor and we had a wonderful vacation creating memories! We would stay in this house again and would recommend this to a friend.

“Great Family Reunion House”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2013

The house met our needs for a family get together. We had a great time. A few mishaps that were easily rectified; stopped up tub drain, repair was done, grill not working, it was replaced with a working one. Spa was dirty and repairman drained it and refilled. My recommendation is to replace the sofas (3rd level) as they are worn and torn at the seams. i would re-rent again.

“Great House!”

Great vacation home! Close to the beach and enough room for 5 families to vacation in. Would definitely come back again!

“The photos don't do this home justice...”

Reviewed 7 Dec 2010

Our family wanted to experience staying under 1 roof for a holiday. We came together for Thanksgiving and it was phenomenal. We brought our bikes and enjoyed riding on the bike path to the lighthouse and local park to watch others fly some of the most beautiful kites we've seen. The children had plenty of space to work on arts and crafts; while the adults played pool and board games. This house was comfortable, spacious and well suited for family who endears each other, but still needs their own space. The master suites served our group well and their girls had a nice room with bunk bed and trundle, while the boys camped out with their sleeping bags. This space served our 18 family members well. Can't wait to return again!

“The best of both worlds”

Reviewed 13 Aug 2009

This summer my family, along with three other families, went on vacation together and stayed in Jones Beach House. I think everyone would agree that this was one of the best vacation experiences ever. Initially we were a little worried about the distance to the beach, but it turned out not to be a problem. Several of us brought bikes, some rented bikes, and a few walked back and forth each day. The kids looked forward to riding their bikes to the beach each day. We even had two 5 year-olds who rode back and forth all week. Those who walked indicated that it was less than 5 minutes. There is a parking lot located within 1/2 a block, so anyone who needed a lift to the beach could be dropped off at the boardwalk along with supplies. The beach was fabulous with plenty of room to spread out. The dolphins played just off shore on most days and the surf fishing was great. By the end of the week we figured out that we could leave most of our supplies on the beach rather than lug everything back and forth each day. We had heard that the surf in this area could be a little rough but that wasn't our experience. Upon returning to the house each day for lunch, the kids could enjoy the pool while lunch was being prepared. The area around the pool lent itself to eating outside which was also nice. Then in the afternoons, we could return to the beach, or head up to the Whalehead club for some crabbing or to one of the numerous local shops or ice cream parlors for a cool treat. If you have the opportunity to take a 4 wheel drive vehicle, I highly recommend it. We loaded our entire party into a truck and headed up to the section of the beach that can only be accessed with 4 wheel drive. Just as the sun was setting behind the dunes, we found what we were looking for, wild horses, one of the many highlights of our trip.

“Great Vacation house for large family reunion”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2009

Great house for our large family. Lots of things to do for all ages. Overall the house was great. We really enjoyed the space and the fact that each bedroom had its own bath. Minor issues were the gas grill caught fire several times (it really needs to be cleaned), the house did not have a recycling bin and the beds were a bit uncomfortable.

“A great vacation”

We really enjoyed our stay at the Jones Beach House. It was close to the street that led to the beachwalk. The house was great for all ages 3months to 72years. We'll be back we loved Corolla.

“nice house, but...”

Reviewed 23 Sep 2008

We've just returned from our stay in the Outer Banks where we had a great time. My wife (the facilities manager) suggested I drop you a note to keep you in the loop regarding your cleaning maintenance, and pool people. Please bear in mind that we were very happy with the house and the rental arrangement, but feel that wee need to keep you informed from your customers point of view. Below are notes compiled during the week by all occupants. Cleaning The state of the house was far from what I would call clean, let me expand on this. In the kitchen all the dishes were clean and put away, the dishwashers clean. The appliances needed the front doors cleaned, they were sticky and dirty. The counter tops also needed cleaning. The hardwood floors in the kitchen area needed mopping. There were leftover cheese balls under the couch that were clearly visible as we entered the kitchen. All the windows on the upper level and the front door were full of children's hand prints and needed cleaning. In our bedroom we were shocked to find the bed made, but the linens not washed or changed. The linens were stained and my wife was shocked to find a pair of panties between the top and bottom sheets. I didn't inspect the other bedrooms, but after our discovery we stripped all the beds and washed all the linens. The area by the outside shower had various cigar and cigarette butts and bottle caps laying on the ground. The garbage cans were in sad shape with flys and ants all over them. Since the cans were backed up against the pool fence, the ants were all over the pool deck. We purchased flying insect and ant repellent and had the cans and pool deck under control by Tuesday. Maintenance There were a few small maintenance issues. One TV remote wasn't located in the proper bedroom. After a quick search we found the missing remote on the third level where it looks to have been stripped of its batteries in order to power the upper level remote. We purchased a package of batteries and had both remotes working, although the remote for the upper level was missing the battery cover. The refrigerator door had a faulty gasket that easily slipped out of place and prevented the door from closing completely. The bedroom doors on the second level had contrasting problems. The front right bedroom door was locked which required a trip over the deck railing and through the (unlocked) sliding door. The doorknob was broken and couldn't be unlocked although the door was able to be opened. The rear right bedroom had a door knob that locked and unlocked, but didn't catch the door frame, so the knob could be locked but the door would still open. There was a broken TP hanger in the left rear bedroom on the second floor. One TV didn't turn on. On further inspection, the unit was unplugged from the wall and the CATV wire wasn't connected. The water pressure in the outdoor shower was so low that no one ended up using it. We used the hose when cleaning up after the beach. The drain line in the front right bedroom shower was clogged and water pooled up when showering. Pool The pool and hot tub were great, with the exception of the already mentioned ants on the pool deck. The pool was visited three times during the week and the water in both the pool and hot tub was crystal clear all week. The hose to fill the pool was located inside the car port where the hose tended to get in the way. It would be nice if the hose was located around back. Misc There were some things we noticed missing and needed to buy. A broom and dustpan, cleaning products, insect repellent, AA batteries for the remotes, cereal bowls, cutting board

Response from the manager Mr. Love, Thanks for your feedback. It is my memory that the issues that you outlined in this review were actually dealt with right away as you brought them to our attention. It is my understanding that the cleaning supervisor returned to the house within a few hours of your arrival and rectified all cleaning issues you outlined the same day that you arrived, so I'm happy you were able to enjoy the week without these matters weighing on your vacation. We apologize that the property was not prepared to either of our standards. Unfortunately we were not aware of a problem with the outside shower or paper holder during your stay, but both items have since been fixed. Thanks for your constructive feedback. We look forward to serving you again soon. All the best from the beach!
