“Didn't know What to Expect”

Reviewed 3 Aug 2014

When booking a property like this, one relies on pictures, past experiences at places like this and reviews. Having spent many year's vacations at the cabins in the West Virginia State Parks, which are authentically built and landscaped, I guess I was spoiled! Add to it that I lived in Pittsburgh, PA (home to the original "3 Rivers" designation!) The exterior of the "cabins" appeared to be made of logs, but the interiors looked like my step-son's trailer. I'm not a fan of futons as the primary seating area for the living room, so I wasn't thrilled with this aspect of the furniture. The cabin was really small and to me, was a bit claustrophobic. There was little room to walk in the master bedroom and you couldn't stand up even 3/4 of the way in the loft. I presume only small children would be comfortable in the loft (I don't know how the cleaning crew did such a good job of cleaning and making the beds up there! There were only 2 of us, so I don't know how families of 4 (or more) would make this work, especially with one small bathroom (but apparently, they did, because we saw several families move in!) The porch of the cabin was really nice, although the plants in front of our cabin were dying and dead. There wasn't much landscaping and most of the environment was of sand and dirt. A large grassy area behind our cabin did not seem to be taken care much, at all, except to be mowed. Some of the play equipment was not available/operative. The cabins along the river are the ones to reserve, because they were the ones with the views, the sound of the water and access. There was a small area of access where the floats put in, but it was not conducive to relaxing by the river. Those spots were further up the road and not part of the resort. The bright spot of the resort was the bar area. There was a nice ambiance to the stone patio area and we enjoyed eating dinner there. The BBQ was really good! So, I would recommend this place to people who understand what this place has to offer and would enjoy this experience.

“Awesome experience”

We were at 3 rivers for a family reunion. The accommodations were wonderful. After a very pleasant 3 days we packed up to leave and were well on our way home when our teenage daughter realized she left her wallet in our cabin. 3 rivers staff called to tell us they found the wallet and then they mailed it to us in a very timely manner. We are looking forward to our next stay.

“A very busy place”

Reviewed 16 Aug 2012

I'll start by saying the staff was very helpful. The cabins were very clean. We originally booked cabin 30 for three nights. Understand I'm an avid backpacker and camper. I was looking for a little creature comfort for a few days. I was disappointed that the location is literately a stop off the road. I had ideas of a more relaxing setting. Cabin 30 was in a bad location. It did not look like the ones pictured. There was no grass off the front porch. It had a concrete slab for a front porch. The gravel road right in front of it, and just over the small bank the highway. I have a better view from home. The maintenance shack was right next to it also. The other cabins in the row looked more like the picture and sloped a little further back from the road. I asked for another cabin. It was better, much nicer, and more relaxing. Keep in mind cabins like 35 are not really cabins. They are trailers with wood siding. Still nice though. It is more like a trailer park and is set up just like one however. Mater of fact there is a trailer park just above these cabins. The only cabins if your looking for real views are probably the ones on the river. If you don't mind the above the place is fine. Very clean. Just not exactly a secluded getaway. Keep in mind I was expecting more than it delivered but for someone who lives day to day in an urban location you might find this like being outdoors. It was far from for my expectations.

“I love Colorado.”

Our Family of 18 set up a camp sight at Taylor park. Some of the ladies chose the hard drive of One and a half hour each way through road construction to almont. By the end of the second week they wished they had just stayed at the camp sight. Also there was no air conditioner in the cabins and it gets hot by day at night it was fine. The shower was not adjustable, way to hot.The large bed sags if two people try to sleep together. But hay we new we were not going to be staying at the Hampton inn. For a mtn trailer park it was wonderful.

Response from the manager Thank you for your review. Unfortunately we can't do anything about the road construction and delays but we will be sure to check on the bed in that cabin. As for hot, we do not have AC, as it drops into the '40's and low '50's each night. We have fans available at the front desk. Unless you stay at a hotel, very few places up here in the mountains supply AC. I wonder if the hot water issue was brought to our attention? Usually, any maintenance issues are taken care of promptly by our crew. If so, I would love to know who you spoke to and what the response was. The unit you stayed in is like a log cabin "trailer" but we have plenty of regular cabins too from basic to upscale (17 different styles). Maybe a different style of cabin would better suit your needs. We always strive for improvement so I appreciate your comments. Feel free to contact me directly at the resort - Jen Stevens, Resort Manager.

“So much fun and relaxation!”

We had a wonderful time at the cabins. The only draw-backcabins was the construction up to the lake, that was nothing anyone could help. The cabins were very clean and comfortable. We will be back in the fall!

“Almont Cabins and Rafting”

Reviewed 14 Jun 2012

Cabin was ok. Nothing fancy - it is a mass produced park "mobile home" type cabin. A bit small but good enough for a couple days. The area and rafting are great. Go up to the fish hatchery 5 miles up the road to fish and you can catch trout with little effort. The rafting was good - we did the "float" because of small kids. Garlic Mikes food was good but service was poor (may have been a bad night for them).

“Pleasant Experience”

Reviewed 18 Aug 2011

We came to three rivers for a wedding. The cabin was clean and neat. We did have a problem with a plugged toilet and went to the office for a plunger. I would suggest that a plunger be housed in the bathroom. Other than that, the cabin was nice. We particularly enjoyed the porch. Their was a brand new flat screen TV. We did not eat in so I have no experience with the kitchen.

“nice, except the sprinklers are loud”

Reviewed 17 Aug 2011

Had a nice stay except every night at 1 or 2 am the sprinklers came on (probably at the volleyball court)and kept me and my wife awake. You should replace those old fashioned noisy ratcheting sprinkler heads with the gear type that are quite. The gear type heads cost about $2 a piece.

“great location”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2011

the cabin was fairly clean is in desperate need of a better bathroom and more modern beds. They should not allow pets dogs barked all night and ran through our patio at night while we were relaxing. The staff at the fly shop were not friendly at all in regards to the childrens pond! When I went to pay they acted as if I would not abide by their rules, there were lots of rules I might add. But there seem to be no rules in regards to dogs.

Response from the manager We are very strict about enforcing our pet policy if we know of a problem. We have a 24 hr. phone available for any problems once the office is closed. Dogs are not to be left unattended in cabins and they are to be leashed and quiet. As far as the fly shop service and the fishing pond, they do not typically manage this program so perhaps they re-directed you to the main store/activities desk. I am sorry if they were not friendly in doing so. We will have a discussion about this.
