Enjoy the beauty and tranquility of this 3 bedroom 900 square foot historic Black Hills of SD Getaway! Close to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave, Custer State Park, 1180 Train & all the Black Hills Lakes.

Our ( Pine Crest ) cabin is the most rustic of the two that make up Camp Custer Log Cabins, and is in the National Register of Historical sites. Our largest one (Sky View) cabin which sleeps up to 13 guests is not due to a recent addition.

OUR HISTORY - Camp Custer Log Cabins are the former quarters for the officers of Camp Custer , It was a CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) Camp that housed hundreds of young men during The Great Depression of the 1930's. For 8 years it served as the home of the South Dakota US Army officers. One may walk across the road and see the foundations of the buildings that were once part of Camp Custer..

In all of South Dakota these two ponderosa pine Log Cabins are the only officer's quarters that remain of the CCC Camp. There are two other buildings that were once part of Camp Custer. One building is at Wind Cave and the other building is on the fairgrounds at Huron. So if you're looking for a Peaceful, Relaxing, Vacation Home, Lodge, Resort, Cabin or Cabins you found the right place!

Pine Crest is very comfortable with a beautiful fireplace in the living room that was constructed by the CCC. Great location for family get togethers large or small ! Many guest rent both cabins. they are privately owned situated on 5 acres bordering miles of National Forest Service land. Visit our website

“Rustic luxury in the Black Hills”

Our stay at the Skyview cabin was excellent and very relaxing. The weather was good for adventurers (sunny one day, 8” of snow the next) and the cabin was very comfortable with all the amenities. We had a fire in the fireplace every night and went for hikes during the day. Highly recommended and the owner, Teresa, was very helpful and accommodating.

We had a great stay at this historic cabin. Everything we wanted to see in our week at the Black Hills was close by, but the cabin itself was tucked away in a peaceful rural location. Recommend!

Response from the owner Thank you Kevin. We are happy you enjoyed our cabin! I see you had to pay a $177 booking fee. Our nightly rate for 4 guest is $225 + 6% tax. We cannot change the policies. To use the vacuum and start a load of towels on the way out are merely suggestions. Guest do appreciate having a vacuum available. Many are there for a week and things can get messy! Sorry, this was a problem for you.
