Description

La Fiesolana is a lovely 430 sq foot vacation apartment in Florence located on the ground floor of an important, ancient house right in the historic centre of the city.

The building (or “palazzo”) was once an old convent that has been later completely restored; the apartment has preserved the original layout traits such as exposed beams, frescoed ceilings and a stunning Florentine terracotta floor. This studio flat is provided with every comfort, including internet connection and air conditioning, and, thanks to its very central location, it is just at an easy walking distance not only from the main tourist attractions and churches - Piazza del Duomo (the Cathedral Square) is just 10 minutes away – but also from all sorts of shops, traditional cuisine restaurants, pubs and trendy night clubs. A public garage is close by, as well as an open air car parking.

The places of interest within and around Florence are countless, not only is this city the most important one in the beautiful Tuscany, but it is also one of the major tourist destinations in all of Italy.

The history of Florence is a very exciting and vivid one. It is an interesting fact that the tourism industry in the city dates back to the 1700s. During that time your aristocrats traveled through the major European cities in order to receive their education. This has been the beginning of the Florentine tourism industry. Through there have been some downs with the tourism in the city, today the industry is flourishing, and there are thousands of visitors throughout the entire year. The number of visitors a year is several millions, this is no surprise since the vivid history and cultural heritage of the city are major attractions. Florence is a destination which is visited throughout the entire year, even during the winter, when skiing at the local mountains is a popular activity. The peak season of tourism is in mid-summer. If you are not a fan of large crowds, then you should perhaps visit the city during the spring.

No matter when you choose to visit the beautiful Renaissance city of Florence, you will be surrounded by numerous attractions. Strolling at the downtown area of the city will reveal plenty of interesting sites such as historic buildings, religious monuments and many art exhibits. Start exploring the magnificent city with the scenic Piazza della Signoria, this is the main part of the city's historic center and there is an intriguing open art exhibit you can visit. The Bandinelli's Hercules and Cacus are famous monuments which you can also visit while strolling through the piazza. Your next stop should definitely be the Duomo cathedral, perhaps the most popular attraction in all of Florence. This is the fourth largest cathedral in the world; it is a building so remarkable that it was constructed for almost two centuries. There are numerous other churches, cathedrals and other Renaissance buildings all over Florence, the city will amaze you with how many cultural and historical monuments it holds. Aside from them, you will also be amazed by the remarkable museums and art galleries around. Even the original statue of David by Michelangelo can be seen on Florence. The city is definitely the art center of Italy, therefore some of the most remarkable museums and galleries can be found there.

Of course, you should spare some time to taste the exquisite Tuscan cuisine at one of the many fine restaurants in Florence. And there should definitely be some time left for shopping, since this city will offer you the most exciting shopping experience in Europe.

Further details outdoors

Florence city centre is a ZTL zone which means a “limited traffic zone” and therefore special rules apply to when you can enter this area. This particular apartment is in fact located within the ZTL zone so this means that if you are thinking of coming to Florence by car and wish to drive around and park, then you will need to pay special attention to the road signs, CCTV cameras and access cameras (they will show either a red/green light) in order to avoid receiving fines. Guests who need to travel within the ZTL zone by car to reach their apartment are advised to contact one of the private garages in the centre and obtain a temporary access permit. Upon arrival at the garage, guests must specify they need access for the ZTL and the garage will then note the vehicle's number plate and forward it to the appropriate police headquarters.
On the other side of the Studio there's a private garage on payment, others garages are present in the near by, 3 minutes walk from the studio there's Sant'Ambrogio Parking a cover parking where you can hire also bikes.
If you want to reserve a garage voucher for 4 days, please inform me, the cost is € 85,00 and is available for Sant'Ambrogio Parking and for Beccaria parking, all the parkings are 3/5 minutes walk from the holiday studio.

The inner courtyard is a magnificient place where you can admire frescoes of the XVIII century, is shared with the owners of the house.
