Restored Tuscan farmhouse with pool and views

Certaldo house

4 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms / sleeps 9

“A fantastic Tuscan experience with breath taking views.” We stayed at the farmhouse end of June, early July 2013. Before our stay we had been in contact with the owners Charley and ann, who were most helpful answering any queries by email. It was our first visit to Italy and they gave us helpful directions from the airport as we had hired a car. We were travelling with a baby and 3year old along with 8 other members of our family. On our arrival we were amazed by the beautiful views over the Elsa valley and the farmhouse itself exceeded our expectations. The owners showed us around the property, which was very spacious, rustic but with all the conveniences you would need. The bedroom were very spacious and the entire property allowed the family to be together but have time apart when you wanted space to yourself. The outside terrace was just perfect for coffee in the morning and alfresco dining. We spent a lot of time outside enjoying the fantastic weather and breathtaking views. The views were so beautiful, you could spend endless time soaking up the sun whilst gazing out over them. We were in prime location for Florence and Siena and enjoyed day trips out again with the help and guidance from Charley who was always on hand if needed. The owners were very helpful in suggesting restaurants to eat at and directions to places we wished to visit. I can honestly say without their help we would have not enjoyed the holiday as their inside knowledge allowed us to sample local life at its best. We had an amazing holiday which was spent sightseeing, eating and enjoying the Chianti...another bonus of the area and purely resting at the farmhouse. We were also free to enjoy the pool and BBQ facilities and can honestly say the farmhouse became a real home away from home. We can honestly say we would return again and feel that the owners have a real gem in one of the most beautiful parts of Italy.

Beautiful Independent Tuscan Cottage For 2 With Spectacular Views

San Casciano dei Bagni cottage

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom / sleeps 2

“Wonderfully comfortable Tuscan cottage with spectacular views” We've just returned from a week at La Ginestra and can't possibly say enough nice things about it. The house is well situated, around halfway between Rome and Florence, and just a short drive from the train station at Chuisi. Nearest towns are Celle Sul Rigo and San Casciano dai Bagni, both wonderful small towns with local restaurants, butchers, etc - those looking for an authentic Italian experience don't need to look any further than this! The house itself is set just outside the town of Celle Sul Rigo, so walking distance from restaurants and shops. It is very well situated, on a plot filled with olive trees and overlooking a valley with views we admired for hours (and days) on end. To be able to sit outside at sunset, as the valley gradually turns purple and blue in the fading light, with a glass of wine in hand is an experience we won't soon forget. The house itself is very well equipped and perfect for two. You can tell it has been set up as a home rather than as a holiday rental. It had everything we needed, from proper wine glasses, a range of pots and pans, to a fan for the summer heat. The bathroom was also well equipped, with good water pressure and plenty of hot water in the shower. There was even a washer and separate dryer, perfect for a week long stay. The fireplace was lovely at night, making it a treat to come inside at dark and sit beside the fire. From La Ginestra, day trips to Montepulciano and the Val d'Orcia were only a short drive, and very achievable. We would not hesitate to recommend La Ginestra to anyone, and hope to return ourselves very soon.

“Excellent Location” The location could not have been better. It was conveniently located and easy to find once we got our bearings. The condo had everything you could possibly need. Pier was a great host. He answered all of our questions and then sent us additional recommendations for restaurants and sites to see. We are so glad we opted for a condo rental rather than staying in a hotel. Definitely would recommend this to our friends!

“An ideal location!” We found this locatIon to be perfect for our home base as we travelled in the Tuscany region. The apartment had excellent amenities, was very clean, and had lots of space to spend an afternoon relaxing. The small town atmosphere provided us with a place to walk an enjoy the warm evenings. Tiziana was inviting and is a good source of local information. Privacy was respected while we had the freedom to use the onsite facilities. We had a lovely stay and have hope to visit again and bring our whole family!

La Balconata - Holiday rental in Tuscany

Bagni di Lucca house

3 bedrooms / 2 bathrooms / sleeps 5

“A beautiful home in the Tuscan mountains” We are just completing a month long stay at La Balconata and we have enjoyed every minute. Kevan is an amazing host with great breakfasts, wood-fired pizzas, and lots of advice on things to do and places to see. The home is spacious with 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms which worked great for our family of 4 including two teenage boys. The villages of Bagni di Lucca, Ponte a Serraglio and Villa are beautiful Italian villages with groceries, gas stations, and access to a train station which we used several times. Highly recommend a stay at La Balconata!

“Authentic, no replacement” Thanks Patrizia & Monica for the bella casa and hospitality. There is no better and we are grateful. The cottage has castle qualities, yet practical while offering breath-taking scenery, quiet peacefulness, and a relaxing rest like no other. We were 3 sisters with our mom--each with our own bedroom--plenty of space, yet cozy together time. We loved the banquette dining space, our little coffee maker and the walks (runs) in the morning. We saw deer, goats, chickens, and local residents on our adventures. All lovely, Gracia!

About Tuscany

When you dream of Italy, whether you realize it or not, you often visualize the rolling hills and roads lined with cypress trees of Tuscany.

The central region in Italy is about 9,000 square miles and encompasses many famous destinations, including the region's capital, Florence. Some of the region's top places to visit are recognized World Heritage sites, including the entire historical centers ofFlorence, Siena, San Gimignano and Pienza as well as the Square of Miracles in Pisa with its Leaning Tower and the entire valley in southern Tuscany known as the Val d'Orcia. In addition to these wonders, visitors should not miss the walled town of Lucca nor the medieval hilltop village of Volterra.

Tuscany is rich in culture, history and arts. All are intertwined: Tuscany, and Florence in particular, were the birthplace of the Renaissance. Tuscany is the birthplace of greats such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli and Donatello in the arts, Dante Alighieri, Boccaccio and Petrarch in literature, Puccini, Guido d'Arezzo (invented modern musical notation) and today's present day tenor Andrea Bocelli in music. Everywhere you visit, from Piazza del Duomo and the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, to the Duomo andCivic Palace in Siena, you will be able to see the lasting landmarks and masterpieces this period in history has left for us to marvel at today.

While most of the postcards from Tuscany show soft, rolling hills, the region is also distinguished for the variety in its landscape including its coastal seaside beaches and towns, its mountains and the many valleys with stunning hilltop towns on every gentle peak in between. The magnificent island of Elba offers clear, blue waters and reefs that remind one of other destinations across the globe.

An essential part of your visit will include enjoying the delicious food and wines produced in Tuscany. The region brings life to the finest Italian red wines, including Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and numerous modern-day "Super Tuscans". Enjoy your wine with great Tuscan specialties: a plate of tagliatelle with white truffles from San Miniato or pici with Pecorino di Pienza cheese sauce, a fine Florentine steak of locally-bred Chianina beef or a panzanella bread salad with a drizzle of high-quality Tuscan extra virgin olive oil.

Tuscany's two international airports, in Pisa (PSA) and Florence (FLR), connect the region to the rest of Europe and the world. From there, you can easily move around the region using the excellent rail system, although some areas - including Chianti and Val d'Orcia - are better explored with your own means of transportation. The port city of Livorno (Leghorn) welcomes hundreds of cruise ship travelers every day.

Tuscany is beautiful year-round, with generally mild temperatures. The warmest months are July and August, and January and February the coldest. Only the highest peaks get enough snow to attract skiers. The best months for visiting are from March to June and from September through early November.

Tuscany offers great treasures for all. Whether you're on your first visit or returning again to enjoy a longer vacation, you will marvel at the magnificent masterpieces this region has inspired in all who have visited and lived here over the course of centuries.
