“Comfortable house”

Reviewed 29 Nov 2016

The house is good. Well stocked kitchen utensils and large living room. Large deck, but when we went (Thanksgiving 2016) It was so windy we barely used it. Sunroom heats up right away in the morning but has fans if it gets to hot. Very close to town and park entrance. Mooching Mule Deer in the evening and Elk in the yard in the morning, great sights!

Response from the owner Thank you for choosing to stay at our cabin in Beautiful Estes Park, Colorado over Thanksgiving. Come back and visit again sometime. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and are welcome back anytime !!

“We loved the location and the breathtaking view!”

House on the Rocks is in a perfect place. The house is close to town but not right in the hustle and bustle of Estes Park. It's close to the National Park but not on the main drag. It has a breathtaking view but there are no mountain roads to climb. It is in a neighborhood but the neighbors aren't right on top of you. The house is older in an established neighborhood just a stone's throw from Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. The rooms are large and comfortable with plenty of space to hang out together or to go and do your own thing. The laundry area is very nice and our two sisters, who stayed on the top floor, were delighted to find a laundry chute so they didn't have to come downstairs to drop off their dirty clothes. We didn't use the washer and dryer much but, when we did, laundry detergent was supplied. Nice for us so that we didn't have to buy it and then leave it when we flew home. There is an iron and ironing board, too! I used them and was glad they were there. There is also a nice bar to hang your clothes on after they dry so that you might not need the iron and ironing board. The bathrooms are older but I love the tan colored tub, sink and toilet. My husband and I were in the basement and used the downstairs bathroom. The shower in that bathroom is amazing! Plenty of lovely hot water and tremendous water pressure. The house is equipped with huge fluffy towels too! The kitchen is well equipped but we didn't use it much. We cooked a few meals but mostly ate out or packed picnic lunches to eat while we explored. We were thankful for the coffee maker and for the dishwasher. The bedrooms are quite large with lots of closet space and chest of drawers for all belongings. I had a little trouble finding a bed that was comfortable for me and my husband together. On the third night one of our sisters discovered a foam mattress pad in her closet and we put that on our bed. After that I slept like a rock. The living area is very large with a stone fireplace and three sofas. We rearranged the furniture a bit (fixed it before we left) so that the 2 largest sofas faced the TV. The living room area includes the dining room table. It easily seats 6 people. The entire living room/dining area is flanked by a wall of picture windows so a person can sit and admire the gorgeous view. The view . . . STUPENDOUS! It changes constantly and is always stunning. There is a very large deck that we used often, especially as the sun rose and set. We visited during the elk rut and could listen to love sick bull elk bugling in the distance. The stars are amazing and, on a clear night you can see the Milky Way. Internet service was fine. We never had any problems connecting to wi-fi. I almost forgot to mention the deer in the yard! We had a couple of young bucks come and hang out on a regular basis. They seemed to like lying in the cool dirt under the back deck. We also saw a bull elk on our way out of the neighborhood one evening and more chipmunks than we could count! House on the Rocks is not fancy but it's wonderful. We would love to stay here again. It is so quiet and in such a beautiful spot.

“Breathtaking and Peaceful...”

My husband and I have stayed in House on the Rocks several times over the last few years and have never had a bad stay. We try hard to get to Estes Park twice a year, and it is always our first choice when we find out what dates we are going to be able to get away. We only go elsewhere if this place is not available. The owner is very accommodating, and really goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. The house itself is both spacious and comfortable, with all the amenities you need for a great vacation. The kitchen is well stocked, and the furniture is comfortable. It is a wonderful place to just sit on one of the couches or the decks and let the awesome and majestic views help you pull yourself back together as you escape from the pressures of your "normal life". When you are ready to move around, you are literally only minutes from Rmnp in one direction and down town Estes in the other. For us about the only thing that would be a "negative" is the lack of internet access. Our jobs don't allow us to be without internet access, so we have to be sure to bring a hot spot or some other device that allows us to remain able to function if needed. It would be easier if internet were available at the house itself. But that is a work around we gladly provide, as we feel it is a small trade off to stay in this house. I highly recommend it.

Response from the owner Sharron, Thank you for the great feedback on our cabin and we appreciate you staying at our cabin when you visit Estes. We will have internet at the cabin this year (May 2014) so you shouldn’t need an internet work around. Thanks again and have a great summer ! Aaron, Heidi and Ed
