MONKS RETREAT

This beautifully furnished holiday apartment provides a hideaway for couples.

Just a 4-minute walk to the magnificent Minster and the heart of the vibrant city, with it's fine shops and restaurants, street entertainers and riverside bars. York 's historic buildings, ancient walls, gardens, river cruises and delightful tangle of narrow streets which make it a pleasure just to wander and relax.

The central location means that you don't need the car as all the attractions are within walking distance, many of our guests never move the car during their stay. If you do have a car you can visit Yorkshires two National Parks or the Yorkshire coast and see the countryside in the day while having your choice of all York's fine restaurants at night. Free parking is provided in a gated car park just a minutes walk away, you can bring the car to the front door to load and unload.

We try and think of everything you will need, even down supplying dressing gowns for your use. We welcome babies and we can provide a travel cot and highchair at no extra cost. Please ask if you have any special needs or requests.

Monks Retreat has a full sized Sainsury's just two minutes walk away so you don't have the hassle of packing groceries to bring with you, you can just shop as you need to.

“Perfect accomodation”

This apartment is absolutely perfect for visiting York and its attractions. In a secluded, gated compound it is quiet while being incredibly close to all York has to offer. We parked the car when we arrived and didn't use it again until we left. The owners, Mary and Philip, met us on arrival and showed us how to work the heating etc. They had also prepared a tea for us with scones, butter and jam which was very welcome after our three hour drive. As we got to know the property, we kept being surprised at how much thought had gone in to making our stay a happy one. We have never seen such a well appointed holiday let. We were repeatedly told to phone them if we had any problems which we had to do on the morning we left and although the problem was not of their making, they immediately sorted it for us. York has so much to offer that we only scratched the surface on our four day break and we will definitely try to book this accommodation again.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your booking page. To change your dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Mary (the owner) a message.

If Mary (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
