“Best Vacation Ever”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2017

Brian and Joan are teriffic! Their barn cabin is beyond words. The view is amazing! It was honestly the best vacation expierience I have ever had!!!

“Amazing!!!!”

Reviewed 11 Jun 2014

I booked this cabin for four nights in June 2014, traveling with my three children (12, 11 and 3), husband and dog. It was fantastic, clean, well decorated, well appointed, peaceful. You name it, it was that and more!!! We enjoyed the grill and the campfire pit and the kids LOVED the loft. I would absolutely recommend The Barnhouse for families, couples and well-- pretty much everyone. The owners were great and so accommodating. The location is central to Rapid City, Mount Rushmore, Deadwood and more. We cannot wait to come back!

“peaceful retreat”

Reviewed 18 Nov 2013

I live all year for my week of adventure with my horse and my time at this little cabin. We wake up every morning and sit outside all wrapped up in blankets and drink our coffee looking out at the horses and the incredible view. It is a simple adorable cabin with a lot of personality. It is not fancy and you may not want to cook big meals which works out perfect for me. I like to ride or explore all day and walk over to the ranch across the street of dinner. I walk home tired and like to get in bed and read. Joan and Brian are unbelievable hosts and take care of anything you may need. I love it!

“Quaint and relaxing”

Reviewed 14 Nov 2013

Brian and Joan's place is quaint, quiet, and the perfect picturesque setting for a relaxing vacation! My husband and I brought our 2 children along, and they said this is the best vacation they've had so far. Every morning we'd wake up to see deer in the field, and Joan's horses out in the stable. They are fabulous hosts and great to chat with. Although our vacation was extremely busy with traveling to different parts of the state, it was great to end the night sitting out on the porch watching wildlife. I especially loved the atmosphere of the cabin. It is fully furnished with fresh bedding and all the kitchen ammenities you need. We are coming back to South Dakota in June 2014 and look forward to seeing Brian and Joan again.

“A slice of heaven!”

Reviewed 13 Nov 2013

Our hosts Brian and Joan couldn't have been nicer, more accommodating or more knowledgeable. Staying there with our two horses, their accommodations were superior. The cabin where we slept was the most quaint, comfortable, "I never want to leave" place I have ever been. The riding was fantastic, the horses could be in their own pasture, and our hosts made sure they had fresh water each day. Sitting on the cabin porch in the morning with coffee and being able to watch our horses from the porch was beyond our expectations. Adding to that...the scenery! Spectacular! The Black Hills are gorgeous. Highly recommend this spot. On a scale of 1-10... 100:)
