Description

Wester Whinhill is a comfortable, modern, self-catering holiday cottage with stunning views over the picturesque Dornoch Firth. Uniquely for the area, it has a separate leisure room with heated swimming pool and sauna for the exclusive use of visitors to the cottage. The house is 5 minutes walk from a golf driving range, pitch & putt, fishing ponds, woods and beach. Set in a large garden with patio, decking, and gas barbecue - it is an ideal retreat - yet only one mile from the town centre with the world famous Royal Dornoch Golf Club.

The cottage is well suited for families and we have a cot and 2 high chairs if required. One well behaved dog is welcome by arrangement (£25 charge)

“Great weekend break.”

Reviewed 29 Jan 2014

Just returned from a fabulous short break at this property and we were so impressed we plan to return next year! The cottage was modern, warm & comfortable and extremely well equipped. Modern and comfortable furniture with loads of space for everyone to spread out. Spotlessly clean, with loads of extras such as , dvd's, cd's, books etc for when you just wanted to sit back and relax. The pool room facilities were immaculate and although we didn't have time to use them ourselves, the visitors book was bulging with rave reviews. Beautiful and peaceful location, with lovely views but close enough to the lovely town of Dornoch and local beaches not to feel isolated. Plenty of activities in the area to keep everyone happy. Would definitely recommend this property.!!

“Fantastic! Perfect get-away!”

Reviewed 14 Dec 2013

This was, by far the best self catering holiday we have ever had; the area was quiet and relaxing and very private. Cottage was beautifully decorated and well equipped, our older daughter (who is in a wheelchair) was able to access all areas of the house and garden and younger daughter loved picking veggies for dinner. Even the dog had a great holiday. Even though we managed to break the door off the washing machine on our second day (oops!), Joan and Jerry were very obliging, ordered the new part immediately and offered us the use of their machine. The pool was an added bonus and both of our girls spend every day wandering from the house to the pool in their costumes. This place is a real treat and we'll definitely we back. Pure relaxation!

“fabulous!”

Great property for a family holiday. Loads of room, great pool and garden. It made our holiday a lot more comfortable. Very friendly folk to stay next too.

“Great peaceful holiday!”

Reviewed 27 Jul 2013

We had a lovely time at Wester Whinhill this summer and would recommend this holiday home to anyone. The house is well equipped, comfortable and immaculate. There was even a tent and kite for us to use. The children loved the pool (so did the adults) and the setting is excellent in lovely gardens. Dornoch is a pleasant walk away and it was a perfect location for our summer holiday this year. Many thanks to Joan, Jerry and family for a great holiday!

“Relaxing holiday in peaceful surroundings”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2013

Owners were very friendly and helpful. House was very clean with all the facilities required. Situated just outside of the town of Dornoch yet close enough to walk to the town. Plenty of outdoor space and seating, with a bbq, decking area and patio area. Nice scenic view overlooking fields with sheep.

“restful but fun”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2013

the house is in a beautiful setting with stunning views it is fully equipped with everything one would need and also an extensive library of books and dvds our boys aged 14 and 11 loved the pool and spent hours in it every day lots of interesting places to visit when we could get them out the pool!

“absolutely fabulous”

Reviewed 16 Jun 2013

We stayed here for nearly a week with 2 small children. It was brilliant to have the pool and a house with everything you could want. The pizza oven outside is brilliant and the patio sheltered from the wind. Bedrooms lovely and bright and a fab book, dvd and tape collection

“beautiful, relaxed break”

Reviewed 11 Jun 2013

This was just what I needed , quiet, beautiful, relaxing break with my family. The accommodation was very well maintained , with everything you need. The pool and sauna were excellent. Dornoch itself was lovely and very clean streets. The Glenmorangie Distillery was the highlight of my weekend, a must for all single malt lovers. One down side was you couldn't get a taxi anywhere on a Sat . Maybe the BBQ could be better also. But I'm booking for next year, so overall fantastic.
