““Lovely house in quiet, unspoilt region of Southern France””

Reviewed 16 Sep 2011

We had a fantastic stay at Les Lauriers in august. The house itself is comfortable and welcoming with laid back and relaxed charm. As a family of four, we found the accommodation spacious and a great place in which to relax. The garden is private and peaceful with areas where you can enjoy both sun and shade. We really enjoyed barbecues on the terrace and playing boules in the evenings near the house. The house is very well equipped, with comprehensive information provided on the local. The owners go to a lot of trouble to ensure guests enjoy their stay and the house really feels like a home, rather than simply a holiday rental. There are plenty of good restaurants in Limoux and the local wine is excellent. Walking along the banks of the river aude in the town, eating at the Lounge restaurant in the main square and swimming in the river at nearby Rennes-les-Bains will be lasting memories. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone visiting this region.

Response from the owner The writer of the review e-mailed us and mentioned that there is a word missing. In line five, the word 'area' should follow the word 'local'. If this could be changed, that's super. If not, the review is so lovely for us to read that it is not a problem.

“A DELIGHTFUL SETTING FOR AN EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCE”

Reviewed 17 May 2010

We found this beautifully maintained house, modern but in the French style, quiet yet perfectly situated for travel though South West France. We visited Carcasonne,Toulouse, Narbonne, Andorra, the Western Riviera, even Barcelona Spain, easily by car from there in a day, finding the Limoux house a delight to return to and relax in after sightseeing. Accomodation for families, or up to four couples, makes the house very affordable, yet it has the feeling of a very intimate and special place. Its small but private grounds, plus the scenery and many fine restaurants in Limoux itself, make it an ideal place for a holiday: one we intend to repeat just as soon as we can.

“An all-round fine time”

Reviewed 17 May 2010

This was my second time staying at Les Lauriers in Limoux, and the first for my wife. The home was comfortable and well appointed on a quiet street just a 15 minute walk from the old city centre. As we walked almost daily to the old town, we would pass three superb wineries. There was always an option to stop by for a tasting, and when we were there, (October) it was in the middle of the grape harvest with tons and tons of local grapes coming in to produce the fine local wines. We love the history of the region from the 40,000 year old cave paintings and the 12th century Cathar castles to the fine old medieval buildings in Limoux and surrounding towns; a painter's paradise. We would happily go there again.
