“A great experience”

Reviewed 17 Jun 2015

My wife and I had a wonderful time at Smooth Sailing. Driving on the beach isn't for everybody, but the privacy it provided made it well worth it.We saw horses daily and plenty of other wildlife including a prairie warbler! The views of the ocean and dunes were great especially at sunrise and sunset. The house had everything that was needed for a great time. The owner (Angi) was great to deal with and was always available.Angi thank you for everything this was possibly the most relaxing vacation Ive ever been on and the memories will last forever. Thanks again!

Angi, Thank you for such a wonderful piece of heaven. Your home is so well appointed and so cozy we just felt right at home. We also are so appreciative that you allowed us to bring our four legged little girl. It made this vacation so stress free knowing she was with us. Could you do us a favor next time we stay...could you tell the horses to call before they just show up! lol What a gift! We will definitely be back. Liz and Charlie

We loved staying here! It was so peaceful. We enjoyed every second we got to stay in this house. The kitchen was fully stocked with anything and everything we would need. It was so clean. The 3rd floor deck with gate was wonderful for us and our dogs, they loved being out there. We are planning on staying here again in the future! Thank you for sharing this beautiful house with us!

“Perfect Get away”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2010

This place was like finding treasure. It was not too far up the beach (2.5miles or so), It was easy to find and many ways to get to. The view was wonderful. Literally there would be wild mustangs out every morning. It was a beautiful sight. The cottage itself was clean and roomy. It is perfect for a small family or a couple. It is about a 3 min walk to the beach itself. Charlie (my dog) absolutely loved the deck. He would not budge even when it was time to eat. Just remember that you will need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to get here. We had a Nissan armada so it did the trick. I honestly had no complaints about the place. The only con's were -The water over there is not really drinkable. The cottage provides fresh drinking water though. The running water also has a faint smell and a yellowish tint. That is typical though for beach, well water. -Mosquito's were horrible the last day there. It had been nice and breezy for the first 3 days and on the 4th day there was no breeze at all. So the mosquito's just appeared 100's at a time. I would just request some sort of mosquito trap out on the deck. Don't forget your "off” bug spray. Other than that it was everything I had expected it to be for a great vacation spot. Couple of reminders - Buy what you have to (food, drinks, beer) before arriving. - Be cautious when driving on sand. - Deflate your tires on your vehicle to 20psi. Overall my experience here was great and my boyfriend and I have recommend this place to our family/friends. I would not be surprised if we plan another visit here next summer. Thanks for a great time! Joulia B.

Response from the owner Thanx Joulia...First of all be assured that how your stay is at my house is important to me. I have contacted the water specialist. Rust in the water and sulpher odor is inherant to well water at the beach. Even the treated water in town has it. It was never that bad during the time I have stayed at our house but none the less I've felt the need to do some upgrading to the water softener and chlorinator. The hot dry weather does affect the wells they tell me. Joel annalysed the water and it had lots of rust and sulphur . He worked on it for 2 weeks to balance it and he still comes by regularly to test it. Both he and Libba the housekeeper tell me it is clear.... I'll be there often to check it !!!! Joel tells me that the water is now drinkable. Besides providing the bottled water in the water cooler I have also purchased reverse osmosis water treatment units for all the sinks to provide bottled water in taps. Im almost certain that the insects you encountered by the hundreds are Midges...they don't bite. They are annoying for a brief time when they swarm and it does depend on which way the wind blows. Again.. I appreciate your feedback... any feedback good and bad..

“Can't wait to get there!”
