The Dovecote is one of three multi-award winning five-star gold award eco barns based at The Dovecote Barns York.

Set at the edge of the quiet rural village of Kelfield, you can enjoy the sound of the birds greeting the day on a morning in the quiet and peaceful surroundings of the countryside. Voted the best Self-Catering Accommodation in England in 2011/2012, a comfortable relaxing stay is guaranteed. A complimentary welcome basket and free internet access as well as an unpacking supermarket delivery service are offered.

The Dovecote is a three storey tower with living area and WC on the ground floor and 2 en-suite bedrooms, one on each of the upper two floors. It has a lot of original features including beams, a queens truss roof and dove nesting holes. The entrance hall has a WC and the living area comprises of a comfy cosy lounge with sofas, log burner and TV/DVD open plan into the kitchen with granite worktops, kitchen island, oak dining table for up to 6 guests if taking the Irishman's Cottage as part of a larger group. There is underfloor heating throughout. The kitchen has french doors which lead into a private patio area for some al fresco dining. There are two en-suite bedrooms, both with luxury mattresses. The first floor bedroom can have a super-king or twin setup with en-suite shower and WC. On the top floor there is a king room with bath/shower with a queens truss original roof and dove nesting holes in the stairwell.

There is also a separate WC in the entrance hall.

Plenty of DVDs and games, with outdoor under-cover table tennis table. There is a wired connection to the internet from the Dovecote for use with a laptop with an ethernet cable supplied. Wifi is not available due to the fabric thickness of the building.

For those wanting peace and quiet as well as easy access to either York or Leeds, this is the ideal retreat.

Located near York and the East coast ,The Dovecote has all home comforts and more . The ensuite bedrooms are excellent . The kitchen very well equipped . We had a marvellous 4 day stay . We hope to visit again soon .

If Brigita (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
