“5 star holiday home”

Reviewed 11 Jul 2022

Our family of four had a very comfortable stay in Bannatyne House for our summer holiday in Scalpay. Bedrooms and bathrooms felt like a luxury B&B with white towels and sheets and complimentary toiletries. Kitchen was well equipped with all the basics provided, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, home baking from the lovely Island Dainties, local beer and Harris gin and tonic! We loved sitting on the Harris tweed chairs in the sun room, looking out onto the harbour with our binoculars. One evening we saw a seal having a swim about, and a heron made a few visits. We enjoyed the Eilean Glas Rib Tour with local man Kenny, and a meal at North Harbour Bistro. And Island Dainties caramel millionaire shortbread is the best we've ever had! Kids loved the play park round the corner, can see it from the upstairs balcony. Its 15 min drive into Tarbert for shops, ferry and Distillery and then further beyond to the stunning white sandy beaches of West Harris. Would recommend this house, location and holiday!
