Description from owner

Description

Jasmine Cottage, newly built in 2014, is a detached cottage set in it's own grounds above a quiet lane at the foot of National Trust owned Velvet Hill. It is perfect for a relaxing break in glorious countryside and is suitable for couples, families or groups of friends. Please note that the cottage may not be suitable for young children due to regulatory fire escape windows in the upstairs bedrooms.

Although the cottage has that "away from it all" feel, it is within easy walking distance of a well stocked farm shop and highly rated bistro, a pub which serves beer brewed on the premises, and three pub restaurants. Waymarked footpaths provide some of the best walking in the United Kingdom, right from the doorstep.

The layout at Jasmine Cottage has been carefully thought out to provide the maximum comfort and enjoyment to the holidaymaker. An open tarmac off road parking bay can easily accept two large cars. Shallow steps leading up from the parking bay allow ambulant disabled access to the rear cottage entrance. An enclosed porch leads into an open plan kitchen/dining room with magnificent views across the valley. Oak worktops and a traditional Belfast sink add character to a fully equipped fitted kitchen. The dining area features a large farmhouse dining table with six solid wood chairs and a wooden bench for the kids. A solid oak door leads into the hallway and the second entrance door. A magnificent oak porch protecting the outside of the entrance is the most distinctive feature of the property. The views from the porch across the valley are breath-taking, whatever the Season. The downstairs bedroom is accessed from the entrance hallway through a lockable door. The bedroom has been designed for ambulant disabled usage and supervised small children. The zip and link divan can be set up as twin beds or as a superking bed as desired. A large en suite bathroom features a walk-in shower cubicle and an eco bath. A solid oak staircase leads up from the hallway to the first floor. To the right is the master bedroom featuring a king sized double bed, dressing table, wardrobe and an ensuite shower room. To the left is the lounge with a private balcony overlooking the cottage garden. A 32" HDTV with Freesat, Freetime and Smart TV, a wireless router with unlimited broadband and a digital radio provide the entertainment options. Back on the upstairs hallway, an oak door leads to a single bedroom with an en suite shower room, fitted shelving and a clothes rail. The window is the designated upstairs fire escape and as such it is deliberately left unlocked on the inside. For this reason the bed may not be suitable for very young children.

Outside, a set of steps at the back of the property lead to a private sunbathing and barbecue terrace. Further steps lead to the wildflower garden, very popular with the abundant local bird population. A lockable storage cellar is provided for the stowage of bicycles etc.
