“Superb views and very comfortable accommodation”

Reviewed 27 Jun 2021

This is a beautiful property which is well equipped to ensure a pleasurable stay. The large kitchen and utility room are very well stocked in terms of utensils and crockery etc, providing all that is required for a self catering property. The lounge is comfortable with the benefit of an open fire and as much wood as anyone could ever need. With a TV, CD player, Ipod docking station and good wi-fi, there is plenty of entertainment available and room for bigger parties to spread out a little. The best feature is the Conservatory which affords magnificent views of the surrounding countryside, and of course, Loch Ness. Simply stunning. The property is accessed by a very steep country lane, so a car is necessary, as is careful driving, but it was little problem in June. It could prove more difficult in the winter months though.

Response from the owner Thank you for your review and personal e-mail. We are disappointed you did not enjoy Mor Carraig as much as you have in the past. However, we feel it is essential we reply on the public site as future guests may well be concerned about their stay at Mor Carraig. With regards to the four issues raised in your personal e-mail. The leaking tap in the bathroom and the issue with the range will be dealt with and we always encourage guests to contact our manager, Gren, immediately should any issues arise during their stay as most issues can be easily resolved. The painting of the hall and replacement of the window panes which have broken seals were both on our general maintenance plan but were put on hold due to the current epidemic. In response to your feedback above, we would like to point out some of the maintenance and improvements we have made since your last stay in September 2017. We have replaced the low sloping roof at the front of the cottage, repainted the outside of the cottage, added new guttering to the steading, had the conservatory, bathrooms, kitchen and utility room repainted. Bought a new fridge freezer, TV and DVD, sofas, chairs and nest of tables in the lounge, sofa, chairs and table in the conservatory as well as a new bed and mattress in bedroom 2. We have also bought new towels and bedding and the washing is outsourced to a laundrette to ensure the highest standards. We are very attached and passionate about Mor Carraig and will continue with ongoing maintenance and improvements.

Response from the owner Thank you for your review and indeed we are extremely disappointed that your time in Mor Carraig was not pleasant. It is a shame you did not contact our manager at the beginning of your stay as he lives two minutes away and would have addressed all your concerns. We have since had the house checked and a fly infestation was not found. We have put many extra provisions in place due to coronavirus and the issues you described regarding cleaning will be further investigated. I agree we do not have an ultra modern kitchen but find it extremely functional with the wooden cupboard doors being quite in keeping for a Highland Country Cottage.
