Tucked away in the Vale of York - The Owl Barn Holiday Cottage is the perfect place to take a holiday, a short break or spend the weekend. In the heart of rural North Yorkshire the cottage is only 8 miles / 20 minutes' drive from the iconic historical city of York.

Lovingly converted from vintage cart sheds the cottage is the ideal mix of beams and original features, combined with the very latest modern amenities. The two bedroom holiday cottage features one bedroom with a generous king size bed and a second bedroom offering the option of either a king or twin beds. The cottage also has two bathrooms, a spacious lounge, modern kitchen / dining area and a secluded paved courtyard with barbecue area and exclusive use of an outdoor hot tub.

Getting around

The Cottage is 2 miles from any public transport whatsoever, which in itself is a fairly limited rural service. The cottage however is in a perfect location for York Park & Ride service a circa 5-10 minute drive away as well as being convenient for Harrogate or the North Yorkshire coast.

Interaction with guest

Barry and Margaret are very happy to chat and advise on local facilities, things to do etc. (Or alternatively let guests totally do their own thing) . One of us will generally meet people when they arrive and do a quick show round - we can generally then tell if people want to chat or be left in peace! We also leave guests our mobile numbers and encourage guests to contact us ,should they need any help whatsoever. We also usually check by text that all is well at some point during the guests stay.

House rules

Minimum Age of principal renter is 25 years old. Bookings for 2 adults are based on the use of one bedroom ( the second bedroom will not be accessible) unless by prior arrangement. For groups of 4 adults please detail your group's make up - i.e. couples, all girls etc. at the time of booking. Children under 12 are not allowed in the hot tub for health and safety reasons. the hot tub must be vacated by 12 midnight in consideration of neighbors.

We stayed at owl barn cottage for 2 nights lovely accommodation .Location is perfect , set in the countryside and only about 8 miles from the city of York , definitely worth using the park and ride . Bedrooms are of a good size and very comfortable . The highlight of our stay was the use of the hot tub and the log burner . Will definitely recommend the cottage and definitely stay again Thank you so much

Me and my fiancée spent two nights here in February and loved every minute. Beautiful cottage and Margaret was there to meet us when we arrived and was very welcoming and even text to see if we had settled ok. 10minute drive to York park and ride and frankie and bennys and other restaurants. Highly recommend as a short getaway.
