Secluded rural elegance with hammocks, Fire/satellite TV, extensive library, fast WiFi, an eclectic movie collection for all ages, DVD player... cozy woodstove (we supply the wood!) and space for a dog or two-- contact me first. I free night with a 7-day stay!

An hour south of Eugene,an hour from our wild pacific coast--- pet, family and romance-friendly, surrounded by vineyards, wineries, farms and orchards. We have plums, apples, berries--- lots more. Camping by the river! Four kayaks, wonderful river swimming hole...Lots of wildlife, great for birders. The world-famed North Umpqua river is 40 minutes away, with its fly-fishing and hiking trails, and Crater lake is two hours away. We have great steelhead and small-mouth bass fishing!

Our 800-foot secluded beach is on the wide, quiet main Umpqua River, and we are surrounded by many internationally-awarded wineries, within ten minutes. The house is upscale and homey, with 2 outdoor decks, a covered porch and lovely antiques --- newly-remodeled kitchen has EVERYTHING you need. The owners in the old farmhouse nearby love to help you with travel ideas!

We are 3 hours south of Portland, at the end of a valley of fruit trees and vegetable farms. Your views are of a hazelnut orchard, mountains and vineyards. Private, secluded 800-foot river beach is at the end of the farm field--- 10 minutes' walk or a couple minutes' drive. There is a great "treehouse deck" there with a gorgeous view of our private swimming hole on the Umpqua River (swimming and fishing for all ages from our little dock!) and the four kayaks available to you. There are many steelhead, salmon, trout and small-mouth bass in the river, depending on season!

Large outdoor play structure for children (also: high chair and Pack-n-Play). I have two twin-sized gel-foam mattresses for indoors and also two camping areas. Lots of outdoor games for the big lawn, and indoor ones for rainy days. Children's pools and water toys, etc.... some life jackets.

Large gas grill; private front deck overlooks Valley's End Farm and the Callahan mountains. In season, we have many kinds of fruit, veggies and berries you can pick!

The back (private) deck overlooks a pinot noir vineyard and Mt. Tyee. The light-filled house is homey with antiques, many books, games and original paintings and photographic art.

Go wine tasting! The Umpqua Valley is now the 4th-most visited wine region in the country, and our wines win international awards (Look for Prayer Rock and Hillcrest, among many.). Take a beautiful 45-minute drive to the North Umpqua River for world-famous fly fishing, rafting or many miles of hiking trails and waterfalls. Crater Lake is a 2 1/2-hour drive along the amazing North Umpqua Scenic area. Boat landing 1 mile. 1 hour to the wild Oregon coast for beach combing, whale-watching, charter fishing or storm-watching.

Don't forget the Wildlife Safari, if you have kids! Half an hour brings you to drive among the free-ranging giraffes, nosy emus, snorting rhinos...

A quarter-mile away from us is the Lighthouse Center Bakery and Cafe--- wonderful (and generous!) vegetarian lunches, great "sticky buns" and fabulous brick-oven artisanal bread.... hot from the oven at 11 a.m.! Hard to resist. (closed Mondays)

Getting around

For sight-seeing, ask me---one must use either a car, a bike, a motorcycle or your feet. The AMTRAK train and Eugene airport are an hour and a half away.

Interaction with guest

I will create an email conversation, helping you with details and all problems! I will probably come over to say hi (our farmhouse is nearby, but not part of your space)---I love to meet people from all over the world. The house has a lock-box, contact (Ms.)Kevin. I love helping with travel/sight-seeing ideas---just knock at the back door or call!
