Description

Allt Mor is a romantic, Grade B Listed, traditional Highland crofting cottage within its original 6 acre croft land. Although over 200 years old, the cottage has been sensitively modernised, combining all the charm of these beautiful old buildings with the comfort of a modern home.

Located in Upper Milovaig, at the North-Western tip of the stunning Isle of Skye, it offers luxury accommodation in a wonderfully secluded location, with access to all the Island’s stunning attractions.

The original stone-built cottage is one of the oldest buildings in the glen and has been extended at the rear to replicate the traditional relationship between a cottage and its associated weaving shed. The extension is barely visible from the road, thereby retaining the original character of the main building. The result is a building which combines the cosiness and charm of a traditional old Highland crofting cottage with a snug lounge with wood-burning stove and a large kitchen/dining area together with a modern bedroom and bathroom with walk-in shower. The building has an exceptional degree of historic charm combined with the benefit of a centrally-heated and functional living space. EPC rating - band F(37).

The cottage is set well back from the road, is largely screened from public view by trees and shrubs and is secluded from traffic and other houses. It is set within its own cottage garden which provides a private, well maintained and tranquil sitting out area enclosed by dry-stone walls. Guests are able to take advantage of the associated croft land. There is a mown walk around the land and a bench at the rear of the cottage which provides extensive views across The Minch to the Outer Hebrides on the horizon – a superb place to sit with a drink to watch the sunset and enjoy the legendary landscape of the Isle of Skye.

The centrally heated luxury accommodation comprises:

Hallway / boot room with plenty of space for outdoor footwear and outdoor clothing;

Cosy sitting room with a wood burning stove and a TV/DVD player;

Fully fitted kitchen / dining area with a hob, oven, washing machine, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with a freezer compartment, toaster, kettle etc.;

Double bedroom has a king-size bed with a large roof-light through which the starry skies can be viewed;

Bathroom has a walk-in shower, washbasin and WC.

Outside there is a private walled garden, a large parking area, buildings where you can store bicycles and access to over 6 acres of the original croft land.

The price for your stay includes:

Having fallen in love with the island after holidaying here a number of times, we purchased our house as our holiday home in 2005. In 2013 we decided to make it our permanent residence. Later that year we had the opportunity to buy the property across the field from us, and, as you will see, who could resist this beautiful traditional crofting cottage. We therefore live close to Allt Mor and there is easy pedestrian access between our house and the cottage land across the intervening field. We are therefore readily available to assist guests with any difficulties they may have. However, as a general rule, we respect the privacy of guests and we try to avoid disturbing them as much as possible.

“Memorable Cottage”

Excellent cottage. We really enjoyed it and I highly recommend this cozy cottage. Everything was very clean and stylish. The fireplace was very pleasant in the cold weather of winter. The kitchen was very well equipped and stylish. The window to sky in the bed room was awesome as well.
