“Family Vacation”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2014

Incredible. If you are looking for a relaxing time on a private beach with the sound of waves constantly reminding you slow down then this is it. We spend 10 days with our 3 kids (2,8,10) at this home and had the best family vacation. We were centrally located to explore everywhere but the best times were had hanging at the house swimming and sleeping and playing.

Response from the manager We do agree, Hale Makai is definitely a hidden gem! Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay! Aloha...

My better half and I spent an amazing week at Hale Makai. The house is beautiful with every amenity we could have asked for including a full kitchen stocked with everything any cook would ever require, washer/dryer, boogie boards, snorkel gear, chairs, umbrella, etc. But the finest amenity is the best and easiest beach access we've ever experienced. In fact, the beach access is so easy at Hale Makai, that I would roll out of bed every morning (in my boxers), walk out the back door, and in less then a minute my feet would be in the refreshing water of anahola Bay. So comfortable there that I doubt I'll ever be able to do that again anywhere else. I highly recommend Hale Makai and can't wait to return.

Response from the manager Aloha! Mahalo for your review!! We are glad to hear you enjoyed this beautiful property in it's unique location....we look forward to having you back!! Mahalo nui loa! (Big thanks!)

“Already dreaming about returning to this idyllic spot”

Reviewed 23 Apr 2014

Just spend 8 glorious nights in this impeccable home. Cozy and inviting, with all of the modern conveniences - completely outfitted kitchen, upgraded shower facilities. Clean, fresh, lovely in all ways. 3 beautifully appointed bedrooms, 2 and a half baths, brand new appliances - washer, dryer, dishwasher, a/c. The view is beyond spectacular - private, with a lush beach just 16 paces (we counted) from the beach. So much care went into making this home a delight to stay in. It was hard to leave and we will be back. I've already recommended it to friends and will continue to do so. The location allowed us to jump in the car and be anywhere we needed within a 10 to 15 minute drive. Very close to the local massage spot auntie angeline's, which I would highly recommend. My husband our 17 year old son could not have been happier at this home - we loved everything about it. I am excited for you, future occupants, and only a little bit jealous. :) Aloha! Wendy Hammers

“paradise home”

Booking our stay at Hale Makai was very easy and the directions were clearly explained in the emails. We arrived at Hale Makai in the dark and while we could hear the ocean we couldn't see it and wondered how far away it was. Looking out the bedroom window the next morning we saw the ocean a stones throw away and actually saw whales breaching before we even got out of bed! There were a few surfers out early and apart from that we saw maybe six people on the beach the rest of the week. We actually saw more whales than people. The house was clean and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen, and we felt very much at home. The location suited us being only a few minutes from Kapaa, we could choose whether to explore North or South depending on the weather that day. We were also able to swim at "our" beach most days as the reef provides some protection. We loved the privacy and the home-away-from-home atmosphere that Hale Makai offered us. Also the fact that there are three bathrooms makes it easier to share the house with other people. We appreciated the little beach chairs too.

Response from the manager Mahalo for your review. We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay and even got to see whales breaching! This is a fantastic location and love this home!! We look forward to having you back to Hale Makai!

“Beautiful quiet beach”

Reviewed 9 Feb 2014

The home was great. Very nicely decorated, well appointed and clean. Kitchen is very well stocked with all the tools you'll need to make meals. Heavy duty washer and dryer also a nice feature. The outdoor space is really what makes this place amazing though. The beach is literally right in the back yard! The beach was always quiet, never crowded. On our first day, we were greeted by a local monk seal who made our beachfront his home for the day! There is a general store minutes away and if they don't have what you need, Kapaa is only 15 min away and has literally everything you can think of. The only downside is the Kapaa traffic which can at times double your drive into town. If I have one criticism it's that there was no lanai furniture. We would have definitely taken all our meals out there instead of in the eat-in kitchen. This is a great place for people who are looking for a peaceful, quiet space to call home while in Kauai. I would definely rent this house again.
