Description from owner

Description

This is an opportunity to stay in a self catering, comfortable and practical property in Pembrokeshire that can accommodate either a large family, 2 or 3 family groups holidaying together or a party of friends. It is perfectly situated for any type of holiday but is particularly suited to those who appreciate outdoor activities, access to the water, spacious surroundings, all at a very reasonable price.,

Nelson House is a semi detached house (adjoining Drake House), set within a purpose built complex which comprises other bunkhouse/family accommodation, a Watersports facility, a Cafe, an 8 acre woodland and a versatile outdoor play area that can be utilised by guests. There is an outdoor area that functions as a basketball, 5 a side football, table tennis area that can be utilised by guests.

The property overlooks the Milford Haven estuary and is situated on the upper reaches where the famous naval vessel, HMS Warrior, was moored. Access to the public slipway is only 300 metres away from the front door. Drake House and Nelson House are at the rear of the complex with the estuary views and beech hedging to the front. To the rear of the property is the outdoor activity area. There is also a 'stone circle of Preseli blue stone' nestled at the front of the house. This is a sheltered spot which would provide an area for relaxing, safe play for children, barbecue and drinks at any time of day. The adjoining woodland can be explored and has views over the western arm of the estuary. There is a picnic area within the wood. These facilities are communal and will be shared with any other guests who book the adjoining properties. There is wifi in the cafe area but it is currently not extending into the accommodation.

Nelson House is being offered as a holiday let for up to 12/20 people. Downstairs comprises 1 double bedroom, a room with 4 bunk beds and 2 shower rooms. A second double bedroom and a room with 4 bunks is upstairs together with a large communal lounge/dining area and kitchen. There is a third shower room upstairs. Lounge space limits our offer to 12, however, additional guests may be able to stay by prior arrangement and negotiation of price as there is sleeping accommodation for up to 20 people.

The accommodation itself is self catering and there is also a cafe on site for snacks, cakes, coffee and tea. The cafe can now be viewed on Facebook "The Cove at LLanion Cove".

In summary, this is an ideal space for exploring Pembrokeshire's beautiful coastline and places of interest. It is an affordable place to stay away from, but within easy access to, busier areas such as Tenby and St Davids. There is easy access to a main road and Folly Farm, Heatherton, Oakwood theme park and Bluestone are all within a 20-30 minute drive.

Response from the owner Thank you Singhfour for your review. The friendliness is a pembrokeshire trait I think. And all the guests that come are so different and interesting which make holiday letting rewarding, especially if they enjoy themselves. See you again. Sue

“Lovely accommodation in Pembroke Dock”

Response from the owner That's a long and lovely review Gerald. I'm really glad you enjoyed Pembrokeshire and the accommodation etc. I will pass your feedback on to the Cove Cafe staff. Managing the accommodation is hard work but I get to have the best of it if people have a good time. I hope you and your family visit us again for a bit longer so we can exchange history anecdotes. One of our visions at Llanion Cove is to rebuild the jetty around the corner from the slipway where the HMS Warrior was moored before relocating to Southampton. We plan to make a deep water mooring place for Tall Ships who currently locate in Milford Haven and lack a deep water mooring other than in a marina. The history of the HMS W is fascinating as is the history of Pembroke Dock's ship building past. Museum planned on site. If you want details of this let me know and I can direct you to the best www site. I digress though. Thanks again. Sue

Response from the owner Thank you for your review Bev and family. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Pembrokeshire is a beautiful county and it is great to be able to offer family groups and friends affordable accommodation. We are a new business of local people who have a vision of making this a great place for holiday makers who can enjoy the onsite and off site activities. The Cove cafe is a great space with beautiful estuary views and 'the fantastic breakfast' comments I will pass to staff. I am hoping you made the use of your courtesy voucher for tea and coffee. Unfortunately the restaurant has not yet opened, however, we are using that space as a venue for music and we had a successful evening recently when some other guests joined in the music and dancing from a local band. The water sports centre has been providing RYA accredited courses for about 2 weeks, provided for by PPSP- a local business with an established reputation. Our climbing wall is also accredited and has been available for most of the summer holiday period. It can be booked with prior notice for small and large groups at a reasonable fee. Regarding Pembroke Dock (we are on the outskirts) - you are correct in that it is an area that requires regeneration like so many areas in Wales. Llanion Cove is actually part of the regeneration committee supporting local efforts to bring this area positive benefits from our business. Your genuine review is really appreciated and I hope it will enable other potential guests to plan a holiday that really suits them. Sue

Response from the owner thank you james for your review. It was a pleasure hosting your family in Drake House and I'm sure you will come again - but be sure to bring your aunts/uncles/cousins and parents again - they are such great company.

“Fantastic Holiday! Shame about the accommodation”

Response from the owner This negative review relates to another review dated 8th August 2016 and is correctly attributed to Drake House at Llanion Cove. The only additional comments that can be made are that Sue, who manages the accommodation, maintains that communication following the booking process was clear and a sound rational given regarding a switch to the neighbouring property relating to the dogs that were brought on holiday. Any emails from Sue to the person who booked this accommodation after the end of the holiday were an attempt to discuss the issues that were being raised. These emails were terminated at Julie's request. As stated in the previous review the issues raised will be considered in full and investigated as appropriate.
