Llan Ffestiniog sits within the Moelwyn mountain range, close to award winning beaches which makes the cottage a fantastic base for those wishing to explore the natural beauty of this unspoilt region of Wales. Both the habour town of Porthmadog and historic Harlech, with its castle and beautiful beach are within 20 mins drive. The village shop, post office and pub are all within 10 mins walk. The cottage has a small porch leading to the lounge with kitchenette and breakfast bar. The stairs lead off to the landing which overlooks the south facing small terrace. Doors lead off to the bedrooms (one double, one with bunks) and large shower room.

Response from the owner Thank you for your very detailed review which highlights many charms of our 200 year old cottage. I'm glad you enjoyed your holiday. Yes, there is no internet. This is deliberate as many guests tell us they prefer to ‘switch off’ whilst on holiday. However, there is a fantastic 4G network reception, if needed. Many guests prefer to eat out whilst on holiday but we usually make meals using the 4 ringed hob, microwave and small oven. I wonder how many clothes you took for an outdoor holiday which could not be stored in the bedroom drawers? Did you make use of the porch for hanging coats, boots etc? Water pressure in remote parts of the country varies during peak times which is why there is a power shower. As you point out, there is plenty of hot water which can be controlled using the timer. I’m glad you’d recommend us to ‘outdoorsy’ people. By this I assume you mean guests who enjoy unspoilt, remote areas of outstanding natural beauty, who recognise good value for money self-catering accommodation. At least you now realise that being a quarryman wouldn’t have suited! Best wishes Ian

“We loved it.”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2014

I was really worried about spending a summer holiday in North Wales, we normally camp, this cottage was perfect, really great value and cosy and warm, it had everything e needed, the beds were comfortable, it is so peaceful.. The cottage is small, our kids are 9 and 12 and it was just right. We spent days on the beach, in the mountains, walking the coastal path, we found beautiful waterfalls to walk to locally. We also visited Bounce Below which is 10 minutes away and completely brilliant. We would use the cottage again and recommend it to friends.
