Description

Nestled in the Pyrennes mountains, our comfortable, family friendly home is located in the village of Axat in the Aude Valley. This laid back village is the perfect base for touring ( we are located on The Cathar Trail ) while hiking, cycling & water sports enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice. The house has everything you will need for a fun family holiday, with a fully equipped kitchen and plenty of room to relax on our mezzanine with its selection of books and comfortable furniture. Our large balony has a beautiful view of the mountains. Here you will find furniture & a kettle bbq for al fresco dining & relaxing. Should you happen upon a cooler evening, there is a wood burning stove with logs provided and a television & dvd player for entertainment. Lots for the kids too, including books, puzzles and a Playstation 2 with its own t.v downstairs. The house is within pleasant walking distance of the village with it's well stocked mini-market, bar/café, public open air swimming pool & tourist train. The local butcher sells excellent local paté & saucisson, the boulangerie opens very early in the mornings, serving you fresh croissants for breakfast. There is an a.t.m on the main street and a post office & pharmacy on the village square - this is also where the local market is held on Thursday mornings!

Getting around

A car is recommended for exploring the many beautiful villages in the area. It is possible to arrange an airport pick up and everything you need in terms for food & drink is available in the village, but for a larger food shop or to visit the beach ( we are one hour from the coast ) or the ski stations ( we are one hour from Les Angles & Mijanes) you will need to hire a car. There is a very good rental site next door to Carcassonne airport, a number of companies operate from here so there is never a problem securing a booking.

How do damage deposits work?
