A luxury 4* one bedroom accessible cottage centrally located in Bridgend on the beautiful Isle of Islay.

HISTORY

The Staff Room forms part of a stone built Islay heritage building, An Seann Sgoil ("the old school" in Gaelic) which served the community for over 120 years as Newton Primary School.

Extensive renovation and conversion of the old school building and grounds was completed in late 2017 and it now offers a unique collection of luxury 1 and 2 bedroom holiday cottages, ideal for couples and small family groups. Three of the cottages have a 5* Scottish Tourist Board quality assurance award and one has 4* - all of the accommodation has been finished to the same high standard.

INTERIOR

A bright and airy ground floor one bedroom cottage. Sliding doors from both the lounge and bedroom open out onto a large private decked terrace overlooking the gardens with lovely views. Wheelchair accessible throughout.

The warm, comfortable and stylish interior is individually furnished with elements of the original building and has underfloor heating throughout. It is equipped with HD Smart TV, free WiFi and a wireless bluetooth HiFi system, as well as a collection of books and games for those occasional lazy days.

The lounge, kitchen and dining area are open plan and fully equipped with a dishwasher, built-in oven and microwave, induction hob, fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer.

The bedroom has a luxury super king size bed, which can also be made into twin single beds, and a large ensuite wet room with stunning contemporary fittings. A good night’s sleep is guaranteed with 2000 pocket sprung mattresses, luxurious Christy’s 100% cotton bedlinen and high quality anti allergenic pillows and duvets.

OUTSIDE

The Staff Room at An Seann Sgoil is very privately situated with its own external accessible entrance and parking space.

Outside there are breathtaking views over the surrounding countryside, with the Paps of Jura in the distance. The well maintained communal gardens include a sizeable lawn, ideal for games, and a large decked seating and al fresco dining area with a wood fired pizza oven and stone built BBQ for guests to enjoy.

There is plenty of off street parking on site, a bike shed and 3 bicycles available for guest use.

THE OTHER COTTAGES

The Staff Room is one of four cottages at An Seann Sgoil, all of which can be rented together to cater exclusively for groups of up to 10 people. It is ideal for large parties wishing to stay together in accommodation with separate facilities.

If Margaret (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
