Description

Set in a peaceful location yet within easy reach of the A171, Forget-me-not is one of three cottages, converted & renovated in 2013 from a stone agricultural barn dating back to 1760. Many original features have been retained & the cottage has been decorated to a high standard. Designed for your comfort in all seasons, the cottage is fully insulated with under-floor heating downstairs to make a cozy retreat in the winter months.

A cooler escape in the summer with stone floors, french doors opening onto a patio with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and to the sea. Here in the North Yorkshire Moors, we can boast wonderful sunrises and sunsets, along with amazing dark skies for star gazing. We are sure you will enjoy your stay & have a wonderful time exploring the villages, moors and coast surrounding us. Close to Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby, Scarborough & Sandsend. - Forget-me-not is ideal for couples, families, walkers & cyclists. Free secure parking directly outside of the cottage.

Pets are welcome by prior arrangement only.

There is a bus stop just a short walk away, at the top of our lan and across the road a petrol station selling a small selection of groceries and newspapers.

Separate Barn with games room - includes pool table, bar football, darts board and TV.

Electric Vehicle Charge onsite - charges apply.

Dogs welcome by prior arrangement only - Please Note: Dogs are not allowed upstairs in the bedrooms or on the furniture and should not be left unattended in the cottage.

Additional charge of £20 each per stay - reduced to £15 each for two pets.

Getting around

We are ideally located to visit the coastal towns and villages - Robin Hoods Bay, Whitby, Sandsend, Runswick Bay, Staithes - Scarborough, Filey, Bridlington. Being in the stunning North York Moors we have Goathland (Heartbeat Country) and Grosmont nearby. You can travel on the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Train at either of these stops also Levisham, Pickering and Whitby. The X93 (Scarborough to Middlesrough) Bus stops at the top of our lane via Robin Hood's Bay, Whitby and Guisborough. From Scarborough Train Station you can easily visit York and Leeds We also have reliable Taxi services outside of public transport hours. There are plenty of wonderful walks along the coast and moors - Welcome to Yorkshire.

We live on site and try to be around to give guests a real Yorkshire welcome. Aware that not all guests want to commit to an arrival time, we get in touch by email prior to arrival with directions, accommodation and key information.

“Great little cottage for a young family”

We stayed in forget me knot cottage. It was a clean little cottage in a great location, very peaceful. Lisa and Graham were both very welcoming and helpful. The cottage is in central location for Whitby and Scarborough. With loads to do for our young family. We will definitely be back when we head to north Yorkshire again.

I think there was some misunderstanding about my comments regarding the Swallows, when I first welcomed you and your family and I am sorry if it you found the cottage too warm, during that particular hot spell. At that time of year, the returning Swallows are looking for somewhere to nest and if windows/ doors are left fully extended, although rare - there is a possibility guests will receive a visit. They would not however visit during the night, as they would be tucked up in bed themselves. I am sorry for any confusion and please be assured, you are able to ventilate the cottage as required. We look forward to welcoming you back to Meadowbeck.
