“Gorgeous! Looking forward to our next visit.” We stayed here for a week. It was a lovely place for us the stay. The kids had a wonderful time playing around the garden. It is a lovely garden with many paths leading here and there to traverse. There are many lovely places to sit and enjoy the view or simply to take a casual stroll though and enjoy the serenity. So first the gardens are wonderful. The amount of work to maintain these is wonderful and I really enjoyed talking with Diana about different aspects of gardening. She gave us a tour all around and we all enjoyed that. The house is older and has lots of charm. The kids loved the bedrooms upstairs. The one is smaller and just seemed the right size for the little ones. All the bed were very comfortable and had lovely bedding, nice smooth sheets and down duvets. We were all very comfortable at night. The kitchen was great the stove and fridge worked well and there was lots of pots and pans for us to use. There is a BBQ and outdoor grill also available. Great for cooking crabs! The view from the property is breathtaking. Its been a couple weeks now and I still miss sitting there in the evening with a glass of wine. Such a lovely relaxing place to stay. We look forward to our next trip. Lastly the jewel of the Boxwood Cottage is Diana herself. She is right next door if you need any info but I never felt that she was intrusive. Very quickly I felt like we were visiting an old friend. She is very busy with the gardens and keeping up the property but was always willing to chat with us and even joke a little with the kids. Looking forward to going back again soon!

“Always a Pleasure” We just returned from our third visit to above the Inlet B & B. As always, it was immaculate, quiet, and an enjoyable stay. This is our home away from home. We have family in Sechelt and so we always appreciate staying at above the Inlet when we come to visit. Peter and Patricia are wonderful inns keepers and we are so thankful for their B & B.

About Sunshine Coast

Not many destinations can boast beaches, lakes and mountains, but the Sunshine Coast in British Columbia has all three!

With FlipKey, you'll be able to find the perfect getaway spot. Whether it's a lakeside cottage or a luxurious apartment, we have a Sunshine Coast vacation rental for you.

About Sunshine Coast

Just a short plane or ferry ride away from Vancouver, the Sunshine Coast is a place for adventure and excitement.

Green forests line this section of the coast, which stretches 180K km from Langdale to Lund. Within lies hiking trails, campsites and more to keep you entertained on your action-packed vacation!

As with many regions in Canada, the Sunshine Coast feels independent from the rest of the country. However, the communities of Roberts Creek, Gibson, Sechelt and Powell River often band together for celebrations - make sure you look at their calendars before you go!

The Squamish, the Sechelt and Sliammon First Nations were first to live in the area, and their descendants are still there today. Find out more about their history in one of the museums, and visit the authentic totem poles.

What to do in the Sunshine Coast

This is THE place to go if you love outdoor sports.

Start your adventure with a hike along the famous Sunshine Coast Trail, or paddle along the Powell Forest Canoe Route to see British Columbia in all its glory.

If you fancy a break, take a look at the Powell River Historic Townsite! There are over 400 original buildings within the borders of the 1910 town and you can discover the mill town's roots.

Try camping in Mount Richardson Provincial park, but look out for the locals. This part of Canada has everything from black squirrels to black bears!

There’s also biking routes, golf and (in the winter) lots of snow sports for you to enjoy!

All of the activities are sure to help you build up an appetite, so make sure you try Poutine while you're out there!

Top Sunshine Coast travel tips

While you're out on your Canadian adventure, here are some things to keep in mind:

Generally speaking, tip between 10% - 15% for restaurants and taxis, and up to $5.00 for room service.

If you want to plan some fun activities, head to one of the Visitor Centers in town. They'll have some great ideas and may even be able to get you discounted rates.

Final tip: don't feed the animals. Even the cute ones! Outside urban areas, black bears are pretty common, so it could be worth getting a bear bell!

The Sunshine Coast has a lot to offer adventurers from all over the world. Use FlipKey to find the perfect vacation rental for you to wind down after an action-packed day.

Sunny Easter vacation

We loved the cottage and Sunshine Coast! The place was very nice and we also found a beautiful beach nearby. We also liked being 5 minutes away from downtown and fairly close to hiking trails. … see more

Great B

We stayed at above the Inlet in the Cozy Suite and very much enjoyed it. It was very clean and had everything we needed. The owners were very friendly, without being intrusive. I searched many hotels and B&Bs; and this is by far a great value on the Sunshine Coast! … see more

Beautiful location, lovely hosts

Beautiful ocean-front setting, lovely home and helpful and friendly hosts. The house sits on the oceanfront with night time views of Nanaimo & gorgeous sunsets. (warning: lots of stairs down to the water, but well worth the hike and there is a handrail.) There is a huge deck at the water with lounge chairs, a fire pit and a BBQ. The home is on the open ocean, as opposed to many of the Sechelt area B&Bs; that are on the inlet. The home itself was clean and well-cared for, but the decor in the upper suite was a little dated. The owner's were renovating the lower suite and I think it will be lovely. I would definitely recommend a stay at Beachside by the bay.see more
Halfmoon Haven Beach Cottage
Wonderful Getaway

We booked 2 nights in the [huge! 2000 square feet?] suite overlooking the water, and massages for each of us. Booking was done by email and was a smooth process- we found our way there and into the suite using the directions we had been given, and Jenn knocked on the door with a basket of goodies for us shortly after we arrived. Both Chris and Jenn were very welcoming and helpful. Everything about the property was ideal for our winter storm season trip: family-size living spaces with comfortable furniture and huge wood-burning fireplace, a games cupboard, the soaker tub, the picture windows showing incredible views from every room, the well-equipped kitchen for cooking (and large dining room- the suite would be fantastic over a holiday for a get together), the hot tub overlooking the stormy waves. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed boasting fantastic views over Halfmoon Bay. The massages were each 2 hours. I'd never had a lomi lomi massage and was nervous about the length (2 hours is a lot of massage!) but I enjoyed it very much and definitely recommend taking advantage if you can! I'd love to go back in the summer as a group for more massages, and to take advantage of the beach, decks with barbecues, and outdoor amenities available in the bay (eg. kayak rentals). It's a very comfortable home, thoughtfully equipped, in a wonderful location by the beach. The only potential down side is the 10-15 minute drive into Sechelt- so if you want special coffee in the morning, bring your own beans to brew and drink on the beach :)see more

Boxwood Cottages and garden
Fabulous and serene

We stayed here in May for the BC Performing Arts Festival. It was a great week. The garden is beautiful and interesting. Diana is a gracious and open host and welcomes all guests to share and appreciate her beautiful property. She is a horticultural graduate and if you love gardens she loves to share her knowledge. While you are there you feel very welcome, but your privacy is also respected. We stayed in the historical cottage, which is Arts and Craft style and charming. It is somewhat rustic, but overall well equipped (e.g. the kitchen, furniture) and the beds are very comfortable - although small because of the small rooms. I managed to work while my daughter was in performance classes. The WIFI was great, but the best part of working was contemplating the view of the Salish Sea and beautiful sunsets from the desk. The location is an easy <10 minute walk to the main drag and beach and ferry terminal.see more
