Luxury 5 Star River Cottage offers excellent holiday accommodation to a particularly high standard and is ideal for families and couples alike. The master bedroom houses a King Size bed, en-suite bathroom and views over the garden and river, whilst the lounge hosts a woodburning stove - a must for those cooler evenings! FREE WIFI is available.
This peaceful setting is perfect for those who simply wish to relax and unwind, whilst handy for exploring the coastal resort of Scarborough, some 3/4 miles away, the historic City of York, under an hour's drive and the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors National Park, often referred to as 'Heartbeat Country'.
Numerous attractions in the area will suit all age groups, from golden beaches, Scarborough's historic Spa and South Bay, children's amusements, Alpamare Waterpark and Flamingo Land Adventure Park and zoo. From River Cottage, a quiet lane leads to the main road with numerous shops including a post office, mini supermarket, chemist and homemade cake and pie shop. Two pubs and a fish restaurant are also within easy walking distance, or if you wish to drive, a further selection is available en-route to Scarborough.
For those with an interest in horse riding, Ireton Riding Centre is just a mile away from the cottage, along with Wykeham Lake which offers trout and course fishing and sailing.

“River Cottage - absolute 5 star”
Had an amazing long weekend stay at this amazing cottage. The location is fab with easy access to Scarborough, Bridlington & other places of interest. The cottage is very comfortable. The beds especially! The kitchen is well equipped with everything you would need to cook a meal if you wanted. A lovely cream tea with homemade scones was waiting for us on arrival. The garden is lovely with the river at the bottom & the visiting ducks. It wasn’t really the weather for us to spend too much time in the garden which was a shame. A very short walk and you have the Forge Valley pub serving amazing food and the Denison Arms pub where we had a lovely Sunday lunch. Staff here were very friendly, welcoming & attentive. There is also a fish restaurant, fish & chip takeaway and a very well stocked Spar all with in walking distance. The communication from booked to leaving was very good by the owners. We were met on arrival with the cottage keys & taken inside. The owners live next door but they are not intrusive but on hand if needed. We never saw them during our stay other than on arrival. I would highly recommend this cottage & would definitely visit again

“A great place to stay”
Can't say anything negative about this accommodation. Very well equipped ,excellent location. Not far from the village not much in the village visited a pub and a fish restaurant which were both excellent. Host lovely informative and on hand without being intrusive. The cottage met all of our needs 5 adults 2 children and a dog. Lovely welcome pack on arrival of home made scones milk tea bags and s few more essentials. Unfortunately due to the current drought there was no water in the river which is at the bottom of the garden to fish in that's our only disappointment. Would definately recommend. Great for visiting Eden Camp and the lovely Yorkshire towns of Helmsley, Pickering and Thornton le Dale which is very pretty.

“Beautiful Cottage”
River Cottage is absolutely beautiful. The Cottage itself is very clean and tidy, very well equipped and so quiet and peaceful. The beds are very comfortable, we all had a lovely sleep each night. We were a family of 6 adults 2 children and 1 dog, plenty of room for us all. We stayed over the Easter weekend and the children loved the egg hunt in the garden. From booking to arriving the owners were great with communicating and were so lovely when we met them. The basket of fresh scones on arrival was a lovely little treat too. We would all stay here again as it was just the perfect cottage in the most beautiful location. ☺️

“Great cottage!”
Lovely clean cottage, very comfy beds, kitchen very well equipped and the oven actually works well (unlike so many rentals where you can wait an hour for a pizza to cook!). Location is good, walkable to two pubs and local shop. 10 mins from scarborough beach in the car. Off road parking and downstairs bedroom and wet room for older people or anyone who can't use the stairs. Welcome basket was an added luxury. Thank you

“Fab pet friendly cottage”
We rented river cottage for the August bank holiday and it was fab. We arrived to be greeted at the gates by John who was very polite and welcoming after a short explanation of the basics we were left to explore the cottage and it didn't disappoint. We found it spotless clean and really well appointed with every thing we would need for the weekend and more than enough space to accomadate our party of seven adults and two dogs, we also thought the complimentary afternoon tea was a lovely touch. The electric gates at the entrance make the place feel really private and secure and the dogs loved the garden even if the weather didn't cooperate. The location is great only a few minutes drive from Scarborough with pubs and shops within walking distance. All in all we had a wonderful stay and would definitely return and recommend.
