I will start this review by stating that we've been coming to Whistler each summer for six years. I Ann very familiar with what is included in a home rental.
The location of this home is great. My family loves Lost Lake and this is about as close as you can stay! Getting into the main village is a breeze as well. Parking might have been an issue, but we parked on the street and were actually closer to our vehicle than if we'd parked in the garage.
If all you are looking for is a place to stay, this place is fine. However, if you plan to do any cooking, be prepared for a seriously lacking kitchen. There was no laundry soap, dishwasher detergent, or dish soap in the rental. There was no can opener. There was no salt or pepper or tin foil, or any basic supplies to cook an easy dinner. We had to borrow a can opener from othe neighbors just to cook. There also was only one dish towel and one hand towel in the kitchen.
The unit was also in desperate need for basic repairs. The glass top stove was cracked so badly it was a danger to clean. The toaster had a massive dent in it. There were holes and major wall damage all around the unit. The dishwasher lower rack was missing wheels so that it was a pain to open and close each time.
On top of all that, there were so many burnt out light bulbs in the main living area. We eventually found 4 replacements and changed them, but there were still others that needed to be replaced. It seems this had been a problem with previous rentals, because bulbs were missing from non-necessary light fixtures. I assume to put in the more needed kitchen area.
Two days before we were scheduled to check out, the washing machine broke. It was not fixed during our stay, but we were given enough bath towels so that our group could shower.
For the price that the owners are charging for this unit, I expected a lot more. I brought all of these concerns to the manager on our fourth day. Some, like the light bulbs and soap was brought to his attention much earlier. The responses were less than adequate. Nobody came to change the bulbs, and I was told to purchase the missing soap and my CC would be refunded $25. My concerns about the wall damage and appliances were never addressed.
This unit should never be described as "superb executive townhouse" and the kitchen is most certainly not "gourmet" or "high end". Yes, there are stainless steel appliances, but two of those, the stove and dishwasher, need to be repaired. The extensive holes and scrapes in the walls need to be repaired. The light bulbs need to be replaced. The washing machine needs to be fixed. The kitchen needs to be stocked with basic supplies (salt, pepper, soap, can opener, etc) before this rental can even be close to justify he price per night.
