Fernside cottage is proud to announce we have again been awarded the 4 star Gold rating for the excellence of the cottage, the facilites and service we provide . This is a high standard award from Quality in Tourism and means you can be assured of a wonderful cottage to visit.
Situated in a quiet & tranquil corner of the beautiful village of Thornton-in-Craven and enjoying outstanding far reaching views across the stunning rolling hills & moors, Fernside Cottage offers luxury accommodation making it an ideal retreat for couples. Walkers will delight in the adjacent Pennine Way and the Yorkshire Dales are just a very short drive away. The historic market town of Skipton with it's 4 days of market is just 5 miles away and has a wealth of interesting shops, the Leeds to Liverpool canal & not forgetting the embsay steam railway for the perfect day trip. The settle to Carlisle railway is just a short distance. There is also a very frequent bus service to many places of interest with the bus stop just a few minutes walk from the cottage. Leave your car & take the bus.
Fernside Cottage is furnished and decorated to a particularly high standard, the bedroom has a luxurious sleigh bed with new 2000 spring mattress ensuring a restful nights sleep and for colder evenings there is the added luxury of electric blankets. The lounge, with it's breathtaking views has a sofa and 2 armchairs - one reclining, while the kitchen and dining area on the ground floor enjoy patio doors to the front which also have views across the valley to the moors and a small terrace with seating. The property boasts television in the kitchen, bedroom and lounge and the kitchen is well equipped with fridge, oven, Nespresso coffee machine,microwave, dishwasher & washing machine
For those who wish to eat al fresco, a private enclosed lawned garden and patio has a rattan seating area and is ideal for lazy summer evenings.

“5 star is what it should be and not a 4”
The location is has wonderful views. and the cottage is very clean and modern. you could not ask for more . The owner is very welcoming and helpful. there are some nice local walks to the village. you are close Skipton. Harrogate ect, I am sure we will return again, Excellent.

Re: needing a car, yes, it is great to go places under your own steam and in your own time but the bus stops for both directions (Yorkshire Dales, bronte country & Pendle Witch country are just 2 mis walk around the corner and they run every 15 mins. Also, the beautiful Pennine Way crosses through the village of Thornton in Craven and is very popular with walkers. Thank you again

“Spectacular location”
We really loved staying at Fernside Cottage, it was a ideal location for day trips by bus and train around the Dales and to Skipton. Very quiet and clean which were our main concerns. Beautifully appointed cottage with the most incredible views of the surrounding area. We hope to return in the near future. Brian and Sara
