The Contarini apartment is located next to the fascinating Campo San Barnaba, in the Dorsoduro District. Here you can find some of the most picturesque canals and Palazzi, besides art showcases in every corner, without the "hustle and bustle" that you might expect being so close to the city center. It is also the student area, home to the renowned Venice Ca' Foscari University, therefore welcome more nightlife than the rest of Venice. The general vibe is creative, youthful and relaxed. The district heart is Campo Santa Margherita, only 2 minutes walk from the Contarini apartment: in the daytime you can find a nice open-air market, children playing, locals walking dogs, shops and cafes; in the evening several trendy or classic bars and restaurants opens till midnight and after.
Once upon a time a boat yard, the Contarini apartment is now a charming historic apartment characterized by a long and spacious living area furnished with fascinating antique furniture.
The tall ceiling with large skylights and the old wooden trusses enhance the uniqueness of this place. After the entrance room there is a full bathroom with bathtub and shower screen, the kitchen follows immediately before reaching the loft-style living room. The kitchen is quaint but rather functional as it opens on the dining area through an antique stone window (see image gallery) and is equipped with all basic amenities. Beside plenty of sofas and couches, the loft is equipped with a brand-new queen-size wall-bed that can be hidden behind a heavy curtain separating what we consider the second bedroom from the living room. When the second bed is not needed the same space can be used as a lovely canal view reading room: with some effort it is possible to open the private water door and choose a book between the large library available at the apartment, sitting right in front of the gondolas sliding along the canal savoring a good glass of wine, that's Venice!
You can access the master bedroom located at the first floor through a wooden stairway. It measures about 30 square meters, has high wooden beamed ceiling, is particularly luminous and two of the four windows face the canal. There is also a small toilet room accessible through a short staircase.
Summarizing, the Contarini is a very characteristic apartment that you either love or hate: it is not particularly recommended for families with small children because of the fragility of its furniture or for those who expect high-tech amenities; the Contarini is a rare find in its kind, affordable and top-located, full of history and charm, recommended for those who love experiencing the truly Venetian lifestyle.
Additional amenities include: iron & ironing board, hairdryer, smoking not permitted, central location, first or ground floor, bathtub, very spacious, private water access.TripAdvisor property ID 2373321...Read more
“The apartment was everything we hoped for and more.”

The greeter was really helpful and pointed out good restaurants, shops etc. that we may like to visit. The apartment was in a great location, within steps of the Vaporetto and just around the corner from a small square that we visited to have morning coffee and a late afternoon drink. The apartment itself was really lovely, beautifully decorated and comfortable. It was a struggle to open the doors onto the canal but worth the effort. We could sit of an evening with a glass of wine and watch the gondolas go by. Truly Venice!

Daniela was extremely helpful in answering our queries. The young man who met us was very efficient, and gave us good information, but instructions on working the TV and washing machine would have been appreciated, as we discovered later.
We loved the apartment-everything we hoped for.(Except we couldn't get the canal door open!)
The location and amenities were perfect. The closeness of the vaperetto stop was wonderful, especially at the end of a tiring day.Ground floor level is a bonus for people of our age.
What we liked best is expressed above. Least - the occasional idiot who raced up the canal late at night with ghetto-blaster full on.

Everything was perfect and the apartment is exactly like the photos. I really felt like I had experienced Venice completely. The apartment had everything we needed and wonderful people to help us and give is great advise. Location is the best. We came for the Biennale, good food and a cozy authentic place to stay. Everything worked perfectly. Venice Jazz club, a fun night out, just around the corner.

We loved Contarini - the location and the property. Our two children were able to share the downstairs double bed, but two adults would not have fit! So, unfortunately we won't be able to rent this property again when they have grown larger! I think it should be marketed as for three people, not four.
Otherwise, it is perfect: characterful, practical, easy to get to and near some of the best restaurants and sights. Could not have hoped for more.

Everything was perfect - from our welcome and introduction to the apartment - to the actual apartment. The service was fantastic and as 1st time renters we would never go back to hotels.
The apartment itself was old time Venice perfection.
The position amazing in the younger trendy area with lots of bars and restaurants - near the uni I think?
We ere 3 adults which was perfect.

We had a great time in Venice, staying at the Contarini apartment. It was such a beautiful apartment in a great location.
We want to especially thank the staff of Truly Venice, both Daniela and Letizia for all their help. Their suggestions and assistance, especially the time Letizia spent pointing out places to eat and go on the map provided at the apartment. She was even available to confirm the water taxi the morning we left and really assured your nervous travelers. She was tremendous !
Please be assured we would recommend you and use Truly Venice again for any other city we decide to visit in Italy - or anywhere.

The apartment was perfect for our stay and the people were very kind and helpful. I really enjoyed the feeling of being in someone's home.
In my opinion the location is ideal --central to everything and also amazingly quiet. I highly recommend it!
