You brought a dozen magazines, and in spite of your warm, easy openness, you couldn't hide that polish of mind and word reflected so eloquently in your review. When we learned you were, among other things, an accomplished writer, it all made sense. Then, there was mum. We fell in love with that lady. Demure, soft, twinkling: she was the perfect compliment to your presence. And you lived devotedly in her company. Mary and I well remember our offer to host her in our private home if you ever needed to just "get away." Together, the two of you were unforgettable. All of which is to say, when you returned for this recent visit, without mum, you were still that open and engaging presence that appreciates everything we strive for, and echoes everything we love in our guests.
