Description
The Crows Nest is a new (summer 2014) one bedroom studio apartment located in Whitby but in a semi-rural location 2 or 3 minutes from the town centre and close to the main supermarket. It is part of a cluster of seven cottages and apartments built from both old and new farm buildings. The Crows Nest is on the first floor above a new garage and is accessed via a flight of 14 wooden steps, so may not be suitable for those with mobility problems.
It has an open plan main living area, one bedroom (with en suite bathroom) but can sleep up to 4 with a pull out sofa bed.
Views are excellent - to the North the sea and Whitby Abbey and to the East over open fields.
The cottages are all child friendly in a secure, safe area area with a playground. We welcome dogs and pets.
The apartment is well equipped and has a washer-dryer.

“Nice apartment let down by unreliable shower”
On the whole, a lovely place to stay! The one thing that would improve visitors stay would be to sort out the bath/shower! The water pressure was very inconsistent and it was hard to control the tem… More

“Lovely little place”
Stayed overnight in the Crows Nest. The property is lovely, nice view of countryside or sea. The bedroom was lovely and spacious. Had everything we needed. Only downside for us was the bed, the mattress isn’t very comfy (dips in the middle) and our children slept on the sofa bed in the living room which they both had a bad night as it wasn’t very comfy either. Would’ve been a 4 or 5 if it wasn’t for the bad sleep as the property itself is lovely!

“Great spot !”
Loved the Cinder path , literally at the edge of the property. Walk into Whitby or the other way onto Robin Hoods bay. The studio has everything you will need , however the water pressure is hit and… More

“The Crow’s Nest.”
Really enjoyed our stay at the Crow’s Nest. Lovely apartment. Clean and inviting. We had a warm welcome from the host.. who was very attentive and helpful. Lovely views. Loved the Peacocks! Parking right outside and lots of area for the dog to run around. Bit of a smell from the Sewerage works .. but you soon get used to it. The Cinder path into Whitby and the other way to Robin Hoods Bay was a few metres away. A Picturesque way of getting into Town. Lots of Chiffchaffs en route.. Take your binoculars!

“Fab little place”
We booked our overnight stay last minute in February half term and we weren’t disappointed!! The apartment was perfect for what we needed, and to be honest I could’ve stayed there a few more nights. It’s about a 2 minute drive into Whitby and if we’d stayed longer and the weather was better we would’ve walked. The apartment was clean, tidy and well set out. There’s a view of the abbey from the living room and bedroom windows. There’s a Sainsbury’s and Aldi at the end of the road which was ideal. I wouldn’t hesitate to book in here again.

“Shirley’s 2019 summer holiday”
I’ll start with the good the gentleman in charge was very friendly and helpful , the apartment was very spacious and in a good location, the town was only a few minutes drive and there I a Sainsbury’s and Aldi across the road. The down side it seems that they don’t want to spend much to keep it maintained, all of the played and bowls have chips. The toilet hand feels like it’s going to come off in your hand when you flush it. It’s clear that only the bits you see are given a quick clean under the sofa and bed were dirty. The sofa bed is extremely hard and not very comfortable I’d suggest a mattress topper. The games room is a disgrace the pool table only had one ball it was covered in rubbish, the rest of the room was in a state and shouldn’t be advertised. A real shame

“Dirty and smelly”
Stayed here for one night. The accommodation itself is right next to a water treatment centre, unsure now if it was Yorkshire water or Severn Trent. The smell that comes with this is absolutely horrendous (sewage and drains). I can’t describe how bad the smell was. The apartment itself smells fusty and it wasn’t as clean as you’d expect. For example there is a lot of dust, there was a cheese string wrapper by the sofa and the sink was filthy in the bathroom. I opened the bedroom window and all around the window frame were dead flies. On the plus side the apartment itself is quite nice (if it as clean). The location is great for exploring Whitby and nearby places. Owners were friendly and check in and out was easy and smooth. I hate leaving bad reviews but I think the cleanliness really lets the place down and feel I should warn other travellers (especially ones who might be thinking of camping there) about the smell from the sewage plant. Please see attached pics for state of the sink and dead flies.
