“VERY DIRTY”
We booked a 2 night stay had it not been for the kids and not wanting to spoil there holiday I wouldn't have stayed one night! The place was filthy needs a good deep clean. It's cleanliness … More

“Very dirty”
Lovely location and could be a nice little cottage but it was very very dirty. There were dog hairs all over the sofa and carpets, there was some kind of grease all over the kitchen tap, the bathroom taps were dirty as was the bath, there were cobwebs hanging from the ceilings, when we went to use cutlery and plates they had bits of dried on food clearly from the previous occupant. Oven filthy, in fact most of it was very dirty, would really benefit from a good deep clean. Internet did not work, tv reception terrible and the sofa has seen better days. I'm normally quite tolerant and understand not everyone is as clean as me but this was blatantly filthy. Kitchen floor looks as though it hadn't been mopped in months. The bedding and towels were clean and it was nice and warm. Please get some professional cleaners in to look after the Place though as I have read previous reviews and people have said the same regarding how dirty the place is. I do appreciate that you let us book over the Christmas period though.

“Adequate as a budget stay”
The Old Stables provided a base for a short visit by 3 adults to Whitby. One niggle was the lack of a toilet roll but nearby supermarkets solved that. More worrying was the lack of a non-slip shower mat in a very slippery bath. The bathroom is in need of re-decoration as the paint is peeling off the wall. A longer stay would have been hampered by the lack of Pyrex or similar dishes for cooking meals. It is a shame to highlight these issues as it could be an excellent base for a longer stay.

“Perfect base”
A lovely little cottage on the outskirts of Whitby. Good bus links, plenty of groceries nearby. Owners easily contactable and quickly solved some of the problems that arose. Be careful of the sat nav directions, they often take you around the back down a track unsuitable for cars. Edith, was very kind and helpful and gave us the proper directions. Make sure you are on the A176 towards Scarborough and it’s on the right just past Sainburys’, right where they are building lots of lovely new houses. Comfy beds, good facilities and old but working amenities. Wi-Fi is a bit naff though.

“Our stay in the Old Stable Broomfields Farm near Whitby”
Thank you for letting us stay in this delightful accommodation which was nicely restored from its original purpose as a stable. We had everything we needed, the two of us, and we were very comfortable. It is set in pleasant grounds with access to excellent walks which we appreciated. Maybe a railing along the raised ramp around the front door area would be safer for disabled people. Thanks once again.

“Lovely stay”
Stayed at The Old Stable for 3 nights with son (20), daughter (14) and our choccie lab (12). Cottage was lovely and clean on arrival and perfect for us. We didn’t spend much time in the cottage as out everyday but so much to do in the area and easy to get to. Pigs (huge ones!) and goats on site and we were visited by the peacock and peahen a couple of times! No freezer but we managed without it and the kitchen crockery etc could do with renewing but again didn’t really affect us. Would be good to have a bbq to use but we just got disposable ones instead! The games room was disappointing, pool table un-useable, few toys for younger children but again these could be updated easily enough. Nice walk across the camping pod field down to the stream. Only affected by the sewerage plant smell one evening and otherwise really quiet and tranquil. Only briefly saw the owners in passing but very pleasant and friendly. Very reasonable price and well worth our stay. Would definitely consider going back. The lodge with hot tub looks amazing!
