Description

Swallow is a new (2017) camping / glamping pod - one of a small cluster of ten pods located at Broomfields Farm, Whitby. Each pod is 6 m x 3 m and has a separate bedroom which has a double and a single bed. A pull out sofa or futon in the living room means that 4 can sleep comfortably. Bed linen and towels are provided. Each pod is equipped with a TV, microwave, kettle and heater. All toilets and showers are provided in the nearby services building which has 4 separate shower rooms, washing machine, tumble dryer and a shared fridge. BBQ's are provided.

Broomfields Farm is in Whitby just 2 minutes drive to the town centre and is close to Sainsburys and Bothams bakery shop. Part of the farm lies within the North York Moors National Park and we are ideal for walking and cycling along the Cinder Path to Robin Hoods Bay.

“Weekend escape”

Fantastic stay, close to shops and what a view to wake up to. Pod was nice and cozy and the decking was a nice touch to sit and have a brew outside.

“August holiday”

The actual pod was fine and as described. The showers on site did not keep a constant temperature for more than 5 seconds and this was an issue with a disabled child.

“Just about ok”

Stayed in pod 2. Glamping pod very basic which is what I expected. Double bed was comfy and the bedding was warm, the single bed was lumpy with springs and definitely needs replacing. Glad we didn’t need to use the sofa bed too as it’s a leatherette one and very uncomfortable. The shared facilities need updating, very tired with paint peeling off the ceiling. Showers are grim and there’s a black mat on the floor to stop slipping I assume, but it doesn’t get cleaned and is green with algae. I decided I’d be less clean if I showered than didn’t so had to have a good wash instead!! Has potential to be lovely as it’s in a great setting, doesn’t need a fortune spending but definitely needs some TLC. I wouldn’t stay here again.

“Poor”

Pictures on the site are not what you get . The pods are spacious but really need some TLC . Decking full of moss and the rails were all loose . Pod full of cobwebs, mould and damp. The heater was tiny , not big enough to heat the pod and ours was broken. So cold , bedding was old and so thin . Couldn’t find the owner when we looked to replace the heater. I was there with my 9 year old daughter and I had to go and buy a duvet for us to keep warm. Shame because the place itself is beautiful .

This place could be so much more if it was just a little updated. We had a comfortable nights stay but there was numerous things that could be paid attention too, the handrail around the shepherd hut decking was all loose , the nettle’s were all over grown around the steps onto the veranda , hence myself receiving numerous nettle stings, the whole hut could do with being stained and inside the floor could do with some treatment to the wood, another suggestion would be to just pretty the place up a few nice potted shrubs and flowers would make the place so much more appealing.

“Great stay”

We had an inpromptu stay in a pod overnight and it was lovely . Nice and clean , toilets close by . We were shocked there was a tv . Great facilities microwave , electric pod so no need for torches etc . What was even better was that we could walk straight down to Whitby on a flat track and came out near to the station .
