About the location

A satellite village to the north of York, Strensall / earswick offers excellent commuter links and bus links into the historic city centre. This friendly village has good amenities including pubs, shops, a hairdressers, a bakery and a fish and chip shop, and there is also a village park and a superb golf course, with other alternatives close by. Just outside the village, the Strensall Common Nature Reserve is a conservation area with heathland and a wonderful array of wildlife, including birds, common lizards and adders.

The surrounding countryside offers good walking and cycling opportunities, with picturesque cycle routes leading along the riverside path into the very heart of York. Hop in the car and venture into the North York Moors National Park to explore Dalby Forest, a beautiful setting for a family day out woven with walking and bike trails and a Go Ape centre! An easy drive away, the idyllic market town of Knaresborough is situated in the shadow of a large aqueduct, with a bustling market square and quaint, friendly pubs, cafés and shops located along the River Nidd. Take a stroll along the river, visit Knaresborough Castle and Mother Shipton’s Cave and in the summer, enjoy an ice-cream and hire a row boat. There are many things to see and do in this lovely area of Yorkshire, a wonderful holiday base all year round.

Everything about this stay we loved . The rooms are so nice and cozy perfect for our 3 night stay. Clean and quiet location . Taxi only 5 minutes into the centre .

Response from the manager Hi Alison, Thank you for your review, we were very disappointed to read this review given that your niece actually used your booking and had no complaints throughout or after her stay? You also booked via Wowcher which is a booking portal who deal with their own payments, so we have absolutely no control over processing refunds to guests as we did explain to you during our phone calls. As we understood that it was very out of your control, as it was ours, we offered to hold your booking so you could rebook anytime in the future. We openly admitted that on that occasion with the weekend supplement there was a miscommunication on our part and then honoured what was said originally although it was outside of our usual policy. We are very sad you felt the need to write a review like this and feel it is extremely misleading.

Response from the manager Thank you for your review, Unfortunately we wasn't made aware of the pressure issue the owner lives on site and could have assisted you straight away. I do apologise with regards to the breakfast package again if you made us aware we could have resolved this. The room is self catering so unfortunately we don't provide shower gel and shampoo ect, and you do have to pass the owners house but we never ask for noise levels to kept down so sorry you felt you had to tip toe past Regards

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

If the property manager agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
